  1. Hey guys, when drawing a shape, is it possible to draw a rough sketch, then go back after and change the dimensions to the proper values? Kind of like how Solidworks does it. Sometimes I feel making shapes in Mastercam is too long and tedious. Lots of times I will open up SW, draw the sketch, then import it into Mastercam. That being said, does Mcam have a similar option?
  2. Funny I did not edit anything on either computer. Today it was working fine. Maybe it was just that particular file I had. Thanks for the reply though.
  3. Hi again guys. I am trying to use this program on my laptop as well and when I post the code out, the picture size is zoomed in. Doesn't do this on my desktop. Is there a setting somewhere to control the resolution of the screenshot?
  4. Ya neither one works. Kind of on the fence right now. I have an offer from someone for a card and adapter for 50 bucks and my boss is suggesting to use the Ethernet on the machines to pull from the server. So I asked our dealer about it and they are getting me the info for it. Still using rs232 for now lol.
  5. Ok so I got it to create a chamfer but its slightly bigger near the corners. How do I make that part smaller? Does this have something to do with rotary diameter or is it because the chamfer tool is not square to the entity at the corners?
  6. I cannot upload file unfortunately. Picture a square part milled on the c axis from a 1" bar. I need to chamfer both sides of the square. I accomplish the fist side easily with c-axis face contour, same as how I achieve the square. I need to chamfer the other side as well. I tried c-axis - c-axis contour, and it looks ok except for its not following the entities straight, kind of curving as it gets to the corners. I had a pop up saying rotary dia could not be 0. I am not sure what this setting does but it seems it just needs a number cause I put .875 in and it accepted that. (edit) just saw your post after I submitted my response MTB. I thought of that already but I do not have any dovetail cutters at the moment so I am to use a 1/4" 45 deg chmf mill.
  7. Hi guys, I have a live tool lathe. I am making a 5/8" square part from a 1" Round bar with a hole through the middle and tapped holes on the sides. Before I part off, I am going in with the part off tool to .600 diameter then coming in with a chamfer tool to chamfer the square before it parts it off completely. What I want to know is what tool path would I use to accomplish this? I do the front of the part with a c-axis face contour but not sure what to use on the back side as clearly it has to be cut from X and not Z. I do not have a Y axis.
  8. I'll give it a shot. Thank you. (EDIT) Nope, will not even recognize the card on 5.
  9. Mastercam will output w/e pitch you tell it to. Just draw the tool dimensions, set the depth and pitch and go to town. Just looks like a simple groove tool.
  10. I know, its very strange to me too. Its the actual machine builder that is selling me the card. They just told me its directly from Fanuc, kind of the middle man. They told me I just need to set IO channel to 4. I'm still not sure to buy it. I have not purchased it yet. Anyway, I looked in the cabinet, I do not see any other slots but I could easily be overlooking it. Lots of overwhelming things in there.
  11. Its Hyundai VX400 Production date on the back is blank but if I remember correctly, someone told me is was 2008 or 2009 Other machine is 2012 Hyundai L230LMSA Both give same error What are the chances of it being the adapter?
  12. Been down that road already as mentioned in my 1st post, I tried from the machine AND the computer with Fat, Fat32 and NTFS By the way its not easier to do on the PC. Its pretty basic to format on the machine, nonetheless, I did what you posted anyway and it still gives the error. That is with the 2GB, 1GB, and 128mb card. I'm wondering what the odds are that both my adapters are the problem? Would it give that error if the adapter wasn't working properly?
  13. Hi guys, I have been trying for 4 months to figure out our 2 Fanuc machines for transferring programs. Our machine builders are no help, like talking to a stump. Fanuc won't help cause I did not buy their 250.00 compact flash card. That out of the way, here's my issue No matter what adapter, what brand of card, what size of card I get, both machines spit out "Memory card not formatted" I was using channel 4 and I tried a 2GB card (Compact flash by the way), 1gb, and 128mb, sandisk brand, Lexar brand and a no name brand, 2 different pcmcia adapters, formatted on pc, also on machine, fat, fat32 and ntfs to no avail. Memory card not formatted always comes up. I'm starting to think that the machine will have specific parameters to be set for it to work right? When I format from the machine (Start up holding right arrow and right side soft key), the card is recognized, it formats successfully and when I reboot, the memory card not formatted alarm comes up again. I'm at the point of just getting the one from Fanuc but I have a feeling that will do the same thing and then the company is out 250 bucks. Any ideas? Fanuc 0i-MD Currently using RS232 cable
  14. Ok thanks guys. There is no toolpath anyway, just geometry. I just saved as a dxf. Forgot about dxf's and dwgs
  15. Hi guys, I've noticed with X8 that I cannot save a file to a lower version anymore. I have X7 on another computer but I made the file on X8. Is there a way to be able to still open it with X7 without losing anything? What file type would you recommend to save as? Also another question not related. Sometimes when I open files, there looks to be a whole bunch of dots all over the place but it is not geometry cause I cannot delete it nor does clearing colors or repainting do anything. What is this caused by?
  16. Never gave this much thought as I always had a lathe handy but it is indeed cool.
  17. Thanks Thad. I got that part to work, however, now I'm not too up on html or css, actually I don't know it at all, lol. But...Would it not be possible to edit the default css templete to have an area to type in? I may be out on a limb here but it seems to make sense to me. I wasn't really wanting to edit the htm everytime. I have a few guys here that are good with css and html. Is it possible to have them modify it? Is the source public?
  18. I did notice though under the tool list area, once printed, that there is a lot of extra space. Maybe there is already an option for this but I'd like to add notes to that section if possible. Is there an option to do that already? And is it possible to take out the cycle time output?
  19. Hi, I just downloaded this and installed it. Heres the dumb question part. Where do I use it? I have some X+ files in my documents but don't know what to do with them. I have X8. I have a part file open that I would like to test the setup sheet on but again, not sure how to activate it.
  20. This worked. Thanks. Rickster I am using X8
  21. Yes I know I can save it if I create a surface from solid but I don't want to do that. I'd like to actually fix it but not sure what I have to fix :/ As I said even if I undo what made it dirty, it still "thinks" its dirty. X8 by the way
