  1. Can anyone enlighten me on the Excel setup sheet. I have searched and not found any info on it. Is it generated by the VB Setup sheet on the FTP site? Is it a freebie or a pay for tool? Where can I get it?
  2. Bump:D Can anyone enlighten me on the excel setup sheet? Is it one you have to pay for or is it for sharing?
  3. As soon as I find a copy I will share unless it is a pay for type setup sheet.
  4. Any one want to share a copy of the setupsheet.xlt? I have never tried to use that one but it would save me a ton of work I believe.
  5. The thumb drive, USB drive, etc. are great. I have used them for years. Main thing is to make sure you tell windows to disconnect them before you pull them out. Doing that too often will cause them to corrupt and loose all data. Sometimes they will fry from doing this. The two I have now are because of 2 people who kept doing this and corrupted them. They were going to throw them out so I grabbem them and reformatted them. One of them required a special software but got it working again.
  6. The disposable diamond cutters are about $200 a pop and they will only recommend running about 300-400IPM. We use the Onsrud Max Life compression tools and they last forever. I set a customer uup with 15 1/2" Tools when he bought the machine. He cuts 3/4" CDX Plywood at 900IPM all day long and these 15 tools lasted him almost a year. In MDF they will not last that long but they do outlast anything I have used and we run thru about $20,000 of MDF a month in our production shop. 1/2" Onsrud Max Life compression cutter is a 60-163MW lists for $74.65 each and well worth it. I run 900IPM and up in 3/4" MDF with these babies.
  7. Select geometry as usual and when done chaining and selecting tool etc. go back and click on the geometry underneath your toolpath and you can right click to select start point. The button on second row by itself is dynamic start point. Just move the start point to any where on the arc you want it to start. This only works with closed geometry.
  8. Why not just ask about your issues here and see if anyone else has the same thing going on or has found a differnt way to do it. As a Router user I sometimes feel like a step child on the forum since most here are metal munchers as I used to be. However, by following others posts I have learned an immense amount on the forum just by applying the principles to the Router world. EDIT: I just noticed I have achieved Senior Member Status !!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  9. I can't find a button for it Paul. In Cimco you can turn the color printing on and off. I still prefer the functionality of Cimco to the X editor. I do like the way the X editor automatically renumbers the whole program when you add multiple lines. My Cimco only does it for a single line and only then because I number by 2's. I also cannot find the things like block setup for X editor. I use a lot of macros with GOTO and With and Then and # etc. and they won't work if there is a block number in front of them. I love X but not the new editor.
  10. X is more than and interface change. It is a whole new program. Instead of bogging down your CPU it runs much more efficiently. Because of this it takes some learning and trial and error. Once you learn your way around you will be programming faster than ever before. I am still learning myself and I love all the new stuff I can do in X. As for the bugs, I have not had any bug problems with the final release version and I believe most of what people are experiencing are not know how to use the software. READ READ READ the installation and transition information that came with your software guys and gals.
  11. Don, My 9.1 runs a little different since I installed the release version of X. Not sure if it is slower but does act a little different.
  12. Yogesh, Karlo Apro is the man when it comes to MC Art. He helped me thru a project a few months ago. Hey Karlo!!! Good to see you come up for some air after X was released.
  13. This may be wrong but I believe you start another machine group for the next operation. You can have multiple machine groups even for multiple mill and lathes and routers etc... all in the same file.
  14. Sounds like it is time to contact dealer for a sim swap. Go with USB sim, it works great. If you have a Hasp 3 sim it will not work properly as you must swap it for a Hasp 4 sim.
  15. The checkbox is also in the operation parameters for each set of geometery.
  16. About the bugs getting worked out... No matter how hard a software is tested, there will always be something that pops up. If everyone does not start using X CNC Software may not find these problems to correct them. That is why it has been beta tested so deeply. As a Router only Mastercam Distributor, I came across things unique to the Router software. Had I not tried some of the things I did, Router would have been released with these problems. I know as I delve deeper into the functionality I will have other things show up. That is the nature of new software. There were work arounds we had to use in V9 and we will most likely have some of these in X. Still the finest software in the world despite the naysayers. GO MASTERCAM!!!
  17. I realize this is a machining center/mill question but in my shop floor days I ran a brand new 4 axis Warner Swasey that I could walk in and minus the X & Z offsets .002 and back them off .00025 every part until it was warmed up. I assumed this was normal warm up as it was consistent. Is you varience consistent where you could adjust and sneak up on it as it warms up or is it all over the place? If it is all over the place I would look at something other than head temp myself. But then, I am a Router guy now so close tolerance for me is 1/16" in wood nowadays even though we can hold +/- .001 .
  18. 6 Standard Routers 2 - 5x10 tables with 3 11 hp spindles 1 - 5x10 tables with 4 11 hp spindles 3 - 2x4 tables with 3 5hp spindles plus all the customers that I program for which can be from 1 to 15 per week.
  19. We had 2 of these wastes of sheet metal when I first came to work at Standard Mfg. 9 years ago. They were old and worn out with like you say a strange proprietary tool holder. Very light weight. Ours were just worn out.. finally had to use one of them for parts to keep the other one running. I guess they auctioned them off with everything else when they shut that part of the company down.
  20. Router Pro actually has more functions than Mill L3. It has to be a post problem. You can't just take another softwares post and expect it to produce code from other programs. Thermwood's stuff is all proprietary so I would doubt any of it would work thru and of the Mastercam modules. I don't do any 5 axis stuff but have programmed several mills and machining centers with my routerpro. Right Post, right machine, right output.
  21. Dave, If you are not changing tools but doing multiple ops with the same tool, you have to check the force tool change box. Otherwise, if you are changing tools it should be there.
  22. Chris, Welcome to the forum. Sorry you feel left out. Art is a great product but I am afraid it may have suffered from being released while everyone at CNC Software is buried under trying to get Mastercam X ready for release. It is a great product that deserves supporting. As far as the reseller forum, it is just that. A place where resellers discuss sales and marketing stuff. I am a Router OEM Reseller and seldom go in there as there is usually nothing that interests me.
  23. There should be some Z setting for tool change height. If it is no longer aligned with the carousel it won't work.
  24. Travis, You need some of the nemi pod stops. They plug into one of the holes and suck down out of the way when you apply vacuum. Pretty neat for secondary work on a router when you need accurate positioning and still need to trim the edges.
