  1. I found my V9 post that addressed this. This is before I ever used it and made it work right. That is why they are commented out. pcomment2 #Comment from manual entry scomm = ucase (scomm) "(", scomm, ")", e # if gcode = 1007, "(", scomm, ")" # else, # [ # if gcode = 1006, "M00", "(", scomm, ")", e # else, "(", scomm, ")", e # ]
  2. Yes your post has to be configured to use as code. If my memory serves me right, the 1005 & 1006 match something in the post. Been a long time since I messed with it.
  3. I wood (pun intended) gladly participate in a woodworking forum. 99% of what I do is in wood products although most is more utilitarian than the pretty stuff Trevor has been doing. Maybe one day I will have spare time on my machines...NOT
  4. Apparently the last upgrade to Firefox or FireFTP must have changed my settings to passive.
  5. Mine is a SIIG brand & works great. Only problem I had was one of the old softwares I have to use sometime will only use Com 1 or 2 and mine sets up on 4.
  6. Well I really like my reseller more than all the others. Oh yeah....I am my own reseller!!! No wonder.
  7. Did someone rattle my cage? http://www.allstaradhesives.com/index.php This is the ONLY place to go to get vacuum fixture gasket. They will make it to just about any dimension you need it. Check out some of their other products as well. We use a lot of their spoil board cover for small parts. Family owned and operated business. Great people to deal with. Just tell them Tom from American Precision Routing sent you. That is the name of our production shop and what Standard Router buys all their supplies under.
  8. Depending on thickness, I use Onsrud 63-724 O flute at 175IPM @ 24000 RPM for 1/4" or thinner. Much faster and you get a dime finish on the edge.
  9. Glenn, The toolbar issue is why I try to get my people here to leave it the heck alone. I have a custom toolbar that has all my icons that I use all the time. It is portable across the network. I leave all the stock icons alone so anyone who sits down should be able to find the standard items. Customization is a wonderful ability to have but some folks can get out of hand with it. IMHO I was hesitant to make the change at first because we were buried in the shop when X came out. The owner decided to learn Mastercam and started with X and I had to switch back and forth for a month or 2 and then made the switch and never looked back. Of course to support my router software customers I trained myself and had it on my pc's but when you are buried with programming jobs it can be tough to make the switch. Glad to have all the newer stuff in X and have not opened V9 in almost a year. Don't even have it on my work PC anymore.
  10. You can translate geometery and then translate the result each time by just selecting ALL then selecting XForm Result.
  11. What about for us Multiple Spindle Router guys? Can I simulate a 3 axis vertical with 3or 4 spindles cutting at a specific spacing of the spindles?
  12. GREKO SUCKS!!! We had them all over the shop at one time and it was always a PITA. They loose format on the disk. Have to have the right boot disk for the right machine. Right cables for the right machines etc.etc. etc. DNC Max is the way to go. Welcome to the 21st century now bring your technology with you.
  13. If I have a lot of rechaining to do, I will reselect and chain one new entity, regen and then come back and to the rest.
  14. No sure this is still accurate with X but we had to write the multihead logic into our post. This way it forces you to select a spindle head and gives you and error at posting if you don't.
  15. What control are you posting for? Most Fanucs will only accept one M code per line unless you have a special option turned on.
  16. I believe you have to change the I/O parameter as well but not sure on the 21i.
  17. Isn't there a selection box in the canned text dialog to tell it Before - With _ or After?
  18. We recommend Dantherm but don't scrimp. Go for a good system with an airlock & auger system to feed into a big hopper. The barrel type work great but you can spend a couple of hours per shift emptying the barrels and cleaning up. As far as the dust hoods, we have clamp on dust hoods on our spindles that work without interfering with the spindle in 3 axis work. They are quickly removable for aggregate work or can be modified to accomodate an aggregate head within reason. With a 5 axis I don't believe anyone has a good solution. I have seen some machines with automatic air valves that follow the machine with air blowing behind the tool. We have toyed with a design for a table width hood that hangs behind the crossrail but it would require a large amount of CFM from the dust collector. We have also been working on a dust box that will popup on the far side of the machine at the end of the cycle to allow the operator to blow the table off into the dust box. Then, when the box is retracted to the closed position, the CFM increases to suck the dust into the dust system.
  19. If you are a quick learner, you can pick up any machine. You just have to watch out for the we don't do it like that here attitude.
  20. +1000 Matt. I guess it is from my design days but I really have a hard time with the save some and end up having to double select my geometry all the time.
  21. I believe there are functions and possibly a couple of toolpaths in Router that are not in Mill. I may be wrong with the newer versions since I only sell Router products and it has been awhile since I was around Mill only license.
  22. Never gotten that on any of my 4 setups here.
