  1. I do not see these settings.
  2. Well, just the other day a fellow asked about creating a line of specific point, at an angle. Mastercam could not directly draw this feature without creating additional geometry, whereas, NX could. NX has a much better ability to manipulate geometry easily and effectively where Mastercam continually fails. Here is an example. Try to use the push/pull method to change the diameter of a small hole in a solid. 98% of the time you cannot grab the stupid @SS red arrow to change the size. Half of the time I try to copy/rotate, scale an Item I have to reboot MC in order to get it to do it right. In NX when I create an object I can use formulas that stay intact. In NX EVERY feature has an identity that can be used in equations to simplify modeling. You are correct though. If you have enough time and patience with MC, eventually you can get it to do most things. I am very impatient, as you may have noticed. That is why I prefer NX. But, I will say that out of almost all top end CAM systems, modeling in MC is towards the top. I have used others, such as Surfscam and Giibs, that are just f'in pathetic when it comes to drawing.
  3. You are correct. This is the reason I have almost, completely stopped using MC for cad. Between MC's inability to do simple tasks, it's bugs, and it's need to constantly be rebooted to accomplish simple things such as copy and pasting, I have no longer found MC CAD to be a useful tool. Yup, it's not fair at all.
  4. I will check this out next week when the machine is open. Thank you for the help.
  5. I do not seem to have these features in the Mori settings. You may have a newer version of Mapps. Thank you for the help.
  6. How? When I spoke with Mori, they claimed this was an option that they claimed we did not have, and tried to sell an upgrade. I had asked them about this mystical 50MB storage.
  7. Yeah? On ours when you hit cycle start to jump to the sub and then try to go into edit to search, it jumps out of the sub and back to the main.
  8. Well BenK, Let me explain MY position. We have had a loooong history of geniuses in our shop who spent alot of time doing things the wrong way, like this, because they were too lazy to take the extra time to setup and program things the right way. Then, the next victim of his laziness that tries to run the job usually says WTFITSS and then has to repair everything. I am the one who typically has to fix the end result. So, not spending an extra 5 minutes mounting the tool properly so you can save hours in the long run when you do it the right way makes little sense to me. Yeah, there are many ways to do something. I prefer the right way to begin with. This week I just spent 2 days reprogramming a job that ran in 7 operations and took 5 hours of cycle and accounted for many scrap parts due to misloading. Now it is 3 ops (1 being a stock prep op) and running in 97 minutes. I did not change machines. I just took the time to program it correctly instead of taking shortcuts. This reminds me of an idiotic Eappretice Mastercam tutorial on youtube about milling cams. I pointed out that his method would not work and told him why. The author stated that he knew why. So, why in the h3ll was he teaching people the wrong way to make parts? And, I'll ask you the same BenK. The right answer is NOT always what they want to hear.
  9. I am running Fanuc on a Mori with the Mapps disabled. I have been experimenting a few days. The reason I am doing this is we have a long Mastercam program that does not fit inside the control and Mori does not like to drip feed, so I am running from a pcmcia card. This causes other issues. Primarily, the inability to jump around in the program with M198, whereas you can with M98. Whoever said this was a Crapps control, hit the nail on the head. One thing I have noticed is the inability to use the Position (PSO) button when running in Fanuc mode. I am wondering why that is. Mori is of absolutely no help, for obvious reasons they are playing dumb. Watcher...you can enter Fanuc mode by: Mdi Settings type in 999999999 hit input This will enter Dos. From there you can enter dir/w to view all of the files type in SAMPLE.EXE hit input Now you will see the fanuc page I really hate the Mapps format This control is an MSG-501 on a Mori NV5000
  10. Does anyone run their Mori's in Fanuc mode instead of Mapps?
  11. No. He is doing it wrong. Making life more difficult. Can't move on until doing it right.
  12. You are doing this the wrong way. You can cut this parallel in the Z-axis (aka Side mill/face mill) and use a dynamic path to rough it out, and a simple contour to finish. Faster and easier on the tools and the machine.
  13. You should be running parallel to the z-axis.
  14. Apply cutter comp with an entry move above the cut.
  15. HUH? What being said? I don't understand what you are saying. Are you just saying yes to be saying yes?
  16. About once a week verify likes to crash my machine. It will happen on very simple parts while complex parts will blast through. It might just need a reboot. There are alot of issues with MC that need restarting MC or rebooting.
  17. There are many problems with the plane manager.

    ERROR: 9

The first mistake was buying a Dell.
  19. This is an interesting topic that reminds me of something. On Mazak lathes they had(or might still have) an operation layout page which allowed you to rearrange the order in which operations were processed. This would be a great idea to add to Mastercam. I, personally, do each op independently because we typically have small production runs. Tool indexing time is generally pretty short and not a burden for what we do.
  20. That deletes all of my default levels that would have no entities.
  21. The Cimco editor was ALWAYS the way to do this.
