  1. I have never seen this. But, today I ran into something else. I usually name my groups in all upper case letters. I inadvertently named a toolpath group in lower case letters. Now, when I tried to go back and retype in upper case letters, as soon as I hit enter, it always goes back to lower case.
  2. I am not sure about X* and X(, but in X&, I tried adding operation numbers to posts, the manual ops were not counted as ops and it always through the count off.
  3. Always. In fact, I strpped the op comments parenthesis out of the posts. This allows me to execute code (like M00) with my comment. My comments look like this: M00(insert screws) M00(remove clamps)
  4. MC runs extremely well on AMD/nVidia systems.
  5. You are absolutely correct. ATI cards are very good. They work fine for other cad/cam systems and gaming.
  6. Vericut had a viewer to see the review files on iphones/ipads a while ago. We set it up and created a bunch of review files for operators in the shop. It took a great deal of time. Nobody used either of them once.
  7. I don't have this problem. In your windows registry you need to re-associate mastercam.exe with mastercam x9. Then you have to confirm in the registry that mastercam.exe is the default "OpenWithList" variable in your .STP/.STEP extension. The problem is generated because Mastercam never renames Mastercam.exe with each new version. They should create something like Mastercam9.exe to eliminate this confusion. But, that would force them to rewrite all of their files that link directly to Mastercam.exe. That may be why they do not doit. One thing I might recommend before installing newer versions of MC is to uninstall older versions and then run a registry cleaner to eliminate everything associated with MC.
  8. I ran into this before, too. I could see the hole was there, but MC could not. It would not even highlight as a hole with mouse over.
  9. Has anyone else tried to recreate this geometry in MC?
  10. By locking everything, you have no clue what really needs to be locked when editing. I just keep the high feed paths locked so I know it has been applied.
  11. CHECK IT OUT added process 5 in 2nd zip2go XA HELICAL BLADE.Z2G
  12. Organized [awr-guh-nahyzd] Verb Define: To have been impaled by a male organ.
  13. The problem with flow is it has no gap settings. So, it likes to jump up at the edges. I tried to recreate this simple geometry in MC and could not get it to create a simple swept solid
  14. I might rough this out with 3d HST tool paths. Orient one side to rough and then rotate 180deg and rough the other side. Then use multiaxis parallel 4 axis and spiral all the way across while indexing. Set it up with zig zag to prove it out before selecting spiral. MC calculation time for spiraling this takes forever.
  15. This started to come about when MC changed to the "improved" tool definitions. Not sure what release number it was, but it was when the stepped shanks and sfpm options were added. Most of the time I get this message is when the cut length matches the shoulder length on endmills. I also get the same with facemill are described in the same manner. I would suggest playing with those vales. Have not seen this on drills before. Try making the profile as simple as possible.
  16. Yeah, I just wish you could save the main viewsheet like before. Not sure why they changed that.

  18. A shame they are not digital. Our machinists can't read standard mics.
  19. If you right click on a viewsheet tab it will show you all of the possibilities that are allowed to be saved in a sheet. BTW...Saving entities on separate levels and saving those levels within your different viewsheets pretty much eliminates the need for "hiding".
  20. I questioned this on the MC site and they got real defensive about it. Right now they have 3 ways to check MC's nci code, but nothing for G-code.
  21. I tried to get them to invest in Cimco. They refused. Even if they did get it, these morons would never use it correctly because the management is so completely incompetent.
  22. Yeah! Lock it down! We did that. The problem is the people that have the keys. Our manager and supervisors and leadmen are so completely F'in dysfunctional that nothing gets done right. The managers are the problem. Here is another example: We got a software upgrade for a parlec presetter last year that allows us to send all tool offsets via nc file to the cnc controls. I wrote parlec post processors for every machine and trained them how to use it. The posts call up the tool, load the offsets and then bring the tool to the most convenient position for the setup guy to load the tool. Hitting cycle start repeats the process for the next tool. A year later these useless monkeys are still typing in offsets by hand. Another issue we had was "skilled machinists" from Dumkok China not knowing how to use the toilets. They would stand on the toilet seat and cr@p while squatting on it, like they were dumping in a hole, and leave a mess all over the seats. Forget about trying to get them to flush. These are prime example of idiots refusing to adapt to new and better situations. Well, I assume they are better. I never tried cr@pping while standing on the toilet seat. I might be wrong.
  23. I have a similar setup to 5th axis'. 2x HP Z1 g2's. For my USB switch I use this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ELECOM-USB-switcher-with-hand-switch-7-Port-Black-U2SW-B27SBK-/121786342110?hash=item1c5b081ade:g:3GQAAOSwAYtWHHpP It works great. I got mine on Amazon for less than half. As for monitors, the HP Z1 G2's have a great feature that allow you to switch from one pc to the other with a simple keystroke. Let's say you have 1 HP on the left and one on the right. You can set these up in a dual monitor configuration. When you are on the 27" HP on the left, the right acts as a secondary 27" monitor. Switch pc's with the 7port elecom switch, then hit the key stroke and then you are working on the right HP with the left acting as a dual monitor for that. You can also add other monitors. Put a 34" 21:9 in the middle, should you like The only downside is sometimes it may take upto 30 seconds for the PC to recognize the USB switching. I have a Spacepilot pro, keyboard, trackball hooked into the elecom. I also have a USB flash drive plugged into it which makes transferring files from one HP to the other a breeze. You could also get a second elecom and daisy chain 3 pc's (and so on) if you are greedy.
