  1. quote: due to "significant vulnerabilities" in technologies included in IE... I am still using it and those that wish to attack or abuse the most popular browsers will always target them as such. Basically, I feel powerless unless I change my browser preference, but even then, a crafty programmer has the ability to move with the second choice as well. I admire those that can make such a change on the fly. Although unrelated, I can remember Veronica, Archie, and Mosiac which was the predecessor to the amazing Netscape which changed the world forever. – My goodness I am getting old anymore. Regards, Jack
  2. Gcode, This is a horror story that need not have happened and I find it inexcusable that medical professionals could even remotely respond to such a horrible and tragic event. I was present for the delivery off all of my children – including my first which required the use of forecepts. The Doctor and attending nurses insisted that I leave due to this procedure – I graciously declined and remained throughout to both comfort my wife and to witness a miracle. The simply fact of the matter is that one of the attending nurses watched me like a hawk to ensure my own safety as well as that of the whole affair of a totally wondering experience. Apparently, it is not uncommon for husbands to become overwhelmed or faint in the final moments of something as beautiful and so unbelievable. To me, for a team of professionals that do not allow for everybody’s safety in such situations is totally unacceptable and virtually unconscionable as well. This woman must be told the truth today. – The hospital administration should also consider recourse for total gross and needless negligence. I am - No!, we are, absolutely appalled that such a thing could ever happen now or ever again. This mother must do the right thing so that this can never ever happen again. As ridiculous as this might sound; patients leaving a hospital in Ontario Canada are always released in a wheel chair and escorted to the front exit – I am absolutely sure that this practice is done to ensure a patient cannot fall or hurt himself until off of the hospital property thereby releasing a hospital of any and all liability. Such a horrific, shameful, and needless tragedy. PS. Brendan - thank you also for sharing in your family's grief - we are all very dear friends in here and always support each other in time of need. Regards, Jack
  3. Entertaining and rather funny. Jokes on us guy's - somebodys selling t-shirts on the same day as the alleged arraignment (China can punch them out faster than we can buy them) - so lets support capitalism in its finest hour. Or, as we say in Canada, eat a beaver and save a tree - now that's a t-shirt. Regards, Jack
  4. Unfortunatly, I am in the same predicament as Chris (12 today and 12 tomorrow), it sucks to make all this money and miss the fun - I'll make up for all the partying while on vacation in two more weeks. Regards, Jack
  5. Thanks Ron, always learning don't ya know! - as borrowed from one of my all time favorite movies - Fargo. From the viewing angle that most of us had today, (Saddam only - then the back of the judges head from about 3 feet). I would estimate the judge to be in his mid thirties and no doubt an expert in international law as well. I never in a million years would have thought that Saddam would be given the opportunity to speak in public or in a court room - interesting days/months/years lie ahead. Regards, Jack
  6. While symbolically pleasing, the decision to transfer Saddam Hussein into Iraqi legal custody raises as many questions as it answers. Like the invasion and occupation, the Bush administration has chosen style over substance. Once again, it has glibly underestimated the difficulty and cost of a legitimate war crimes trial. But one thing is certain - a show trial conducted by a kangaroo court in Baghdad will provide a fitting finale for an administration that has worked so valiantly to undermine international law. The former Iraqi dictator will be the most significant war crimes defendant since Hermann Goering took the stand at Nuremberg in 1946. The mass graves, torture chambers and execution videos leave few doubts about the moral guilt of the fallen Iraqi dictator. But as Slobodan Milosevic has recently demonstrated at the Hague, moral guilt and legal guilt are not the same. Milosevic was careful to insulate himself from his regime's horrific acts and, after months of cross-examinations, he remains defiant. Nuremberg's International Military Tribunal could not reign in Goering, nor could the Hague court do the same to Milosevic. What realistic chance does the Iraqi war crimes court have in both controlling Hussein and giving him a legitimate trial? The Iraqi war crimes court is yet another aspect of the occupation controlled by discredited Pentagon con man Ahmed Chalabi. Appointed by the Iraqi Governing Council to head the trials, his nephew Salem Chalabi promises that the courts will abide by international law. How can Iraqi judges, after decades of dictatorship, conduct fair trials of this complexity? Only a few months ago, Salem Chalabi irritated his Pentagon handlers by announcing that the trials would probably not begin this year. The White House had other ideas. Given his uncle's remarkable fall from grace, Salem Chalabi is in no position to ignore yet another last-minute Bush audible. Since Sept. 11, 2001, the United States has replaced distinctions like "soldier" and "civilian" with messianic constructions like "good" and "evil." According to this logic, the victor has no obligation to extend a wide array of civil rights to the vanquished. Given that the White House has explicitly rejected the Geneva Conventions and condones the use of torture as a matter of U.S. policy, why not simply execute the Iraqi leaders? by Peter Maguire as published on Thursday, July 1, 2004 by Newsday / Long Island, New York. I started this thread and forgot to place O/T in the header - my bad. Regards, Jack
  7. One post over the line Sweet Jesus, One post over the line. Sittin down town with my next door neighbor, Singing one post over the line. Chris, to many more. Regards, Jack
  8. quote: Libral Democrat here to improve our Social Concience AND I have several Grateful Dead T-Shirts as well Regards, Jack
  9. I have nothing to do with this I do however find it rather amusing. I suspected something about the Davinci (sp) Code. Regards, jack
  10. Pooh Bear, Great commentary and play by play action. I heard that Portugal had won tonight but I found your enthusiasm to be bonus; I seem to recall that somebody else did this as well in the last year and found it also very enjoyable. Regards, Jack
  11. Mark, Deal me in - even if I have to attend the film blindfolded - I'm still in. If I had to read some of that Neo-Conservative stuff, I'm afraid that I might go blind or perhaps be stuck down by lightning. Almost forgot - count me in for the roll call guy's; I'm just biding my time until vacation. As Andrew has suggested - I will dine on the haggis, chips, and mushy peas (And this place had better serve them when I show up.) Regards, Jack
  12. I'll go against the grain and recommend the ATI 9700 - but what do I know? Regards, Jack
  13. June 25th, attending Moore's latest film. July 17th~Aug 1st, visiting Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and PEI in eastern Canada for a well deserved two weeker with my lovely wife and the granny connection. Pros - I ain't gonna be on the forum for two full weeks so please behave. especially James and Rekd. Cons - there aren't any, cept for Junior, cause he will have to do something productive while I am off. and that's only if he doesn't go whining to Anil saying that Jack really screwed me over by taking off on me like this and leaving me all this work. - sorry Junior, but it really sucks to be you. 14. Club 75 arrived via an older thread claiming that I thought myself to be one of the younger/older forum players. I sort of went after great grandfather Ed House of In-House Solutions – but alas, I don’t think he is very active with internet or forum savvy. Apparently Corey aka Mold100 was born in 1975 as are many other forum members and it was he that coined the term, to the best of my knowledge. A plethora of interesting responses were given – to me the most outstanding was Bernie’s age and the simple fact that he is not ready to retire (hope the move back to California was a good one and I also hope your having a little luck finding another job, Lord knows at almost 50 years I might also have a tough time with it.) Matt, "Rekd teh You go, girl!" is undoubtably your finest byline yet. Regards, Jack
  15. Cammando, Micheal Reynolds, and Elad were all very active when I sort of renewed my effort. Come to think of it, I don't believe I have seen much of these members as of late. Regards, Jack
  16. Brendan, "I know you are - but what am I?" ha ha Regards, Jack
  17. Yep, it happened in 1998 in Kissimmee Florida; My family attended a movie at the local theater and I said that we were going to sit at the very back row – my youngest daughter protested and I retorted that nobody can knife or xxxx on your back, if you take the wall. The gang bangers were 14 years old at best, riding on bicycles out front of the theater and I immediately knew they were packing a hell of a lot more than candy switch blades and pretend starter pistols. On the way to Florida via Detroit, I missed the left turn to the I95 and drove about eight blocks past – We needed gas and had to pay up front before the attendant would electronically launch the pump from behind his barred booth; all the while that I was filling the tank, I was circled by kids on bikes. As an adult you seem to have an ability to sense possible danger and you seem to know or recognize when you are in it. No bash intended for our American friends, but it is not the same in Canada – can anybody else relate to what I am saying here? Let me apoligize now if I have offended anybody with an honest assessment in what we experienced; I have no bone to pick and I am just trying to tell it like it is or was from my own viewpoint. Regards, Jack
  18. Yesterday I wrote a rather long winded argument against profiling. - I won't bother since it might upset others with differing opinions. I'll leave it at this - profiling, in my opinion is immoral, not so much a question of legal or illegal, just immoral. Yes I fear certain situations more than others (IE walking into a theater or bar in Miami Beach and sitting against a wall as opposed to the central area, others might include avoiding certain areas after dark in Detroit and NYC.) We are largely responsible for our own safety and it might be considered foolish to rely on a government agency to provide any form of protection. Two years ago, I listened to a 911 recorded message as the perpetrator was bashing his way through a woman’s apartment door – this recording would draw a horrifying response from 99% of the forum. This was recorded live, as the man entered and killed her for no apparent reason. To me it was the pleading of what do you want, why are you doing this, etc! Rare indeed, would there be an individual that could sit thorough this one minute recording and not be affected by it for the rest of thier lives. I will inquire about obtaining this and uploading it, if at all possible. Please note: That I have not identified or neither slandered a person of any race/religion – racism to me, is a disease IMNSHO; another phase that I find particularly repulsive is ethnic cleansing, which probably is another argument meant for another day. Regards, Jack
  19. Wow, Looks as if most others are as bored as I. Have a good weekend guys. Regards, Jack
  20. Mark, Celine Dion is saved & protected for a future story - shame on you. Besides - she sold out for 87 million US per year for those fortunate enough to enjoy her show in Las Vegas. Julianna Moore? is expected in Paris Ontario in about a months time for some film about a mother that enters radio contests - this is less than a block away from my house; I might apply for a stand in/other persons role if time permits. (This might be my first and only shot at stardom) Regards, Jack
  21. So Florida wins the Stanley Cup (sic). Autodesk releases Inventor 9 on Monday last. Scott shakes the magic eight ball and comes up with more bubbles. Solidworks is due to release version 2005 on July 14th. Mastercam”X” is finally in beta and yet nobody’s talking about it. – did you guys sign a disclosure agreement or what? Don Cherry might well become a fond memory for insulting the Frenchy boys. Jim at Gentex shoots a smiley on his very first post. (Danger..Will Robinson…). Bush is busy attempting to capitalize on the photo-op at Ronald’s demise. Bucket trades in the custom hog for Yamaha Vstar wanna be (sites a better warranty and very cool sound). Air America seems a little stale at this moment, but still entertaining, none the less. Chris trades the old Ventura minivan for a new Ventura minivan (surprised?) Matt gets caught toying with the father-n-laws 50 Cal. Michael Moore receives the Pomme de Terre award at the Cannes film festival. Aaron ponders voting for Kerry. Haas issues a life time warranty on spindles for all machining centers. Lovelace admits "Don't pay the ransom" to be his favorite country & western tune. Millman takes the Lamborghini out for a test drive – and likes it. I have watched “Kill Bill” three times, back to back - and I am really considering another two or three (Amazing movie). I am just bored to tears on this hot, humid, and incredibly dull day. Story-time, unless somebody can come up with an interesting topic or thread. – I am feeling rather unraveled, vicious, and ornery (kindly beware). Come on guys, stir the pot for a change or accept the consequences – save yourselves! Regards, Jack
  22. Last week I was in an Inventor 8 class test and the instructor mentioned repeatedly to save often. The man beside me screams in anguish as when his computer hangs after approximately one hour in - I immediately do a save as does most everybody else in the class; funny how we can tend to forget such obvious things. I commented during the next class that I merely did well at somebody elses expense as many other students agreed. I should know better - as we all should. Regards, Jack
  23. Harry, Save your lips - Andrew doesn't have one. Regards, Jack
  24. Geez guy's, please chill on the obvious Everybody knows the home of Lord Stanleys cup belongs with Toronto and the Maple Leafs. Regards, Jack
  25. quote: I've seen guys put endmills in a drill chuck before. And add to this the hammer beating on the vice handle as well; but hey, it's all good, especially when the instuctors are setting the example. I almost forgot: How about those 18" pipes that are necessary to tighten the 3/16" set screws - it's such a tempting thought to put one on the bench and watch them snap the threads. I might suggest a preliminary test! Have the machinist simply change an R8 collet in a conventional mill (Bridgeport) this view would provide an excellant opportunity to measure intelligence and common sense in one shot. Regards, Jack
