  1. Sorry, I meant to click "reply", not "new topic". Mike R. [ 10-10-2002, 07:33 PM: Message edited by: Michael Reynolds ]
  2. Hi OlympiaHS! What a co inky dink! I just posted a message on this forum requesting about the same information. I have since found the following web pages to be very informative! See below. http://www.cablingdirectory.com/glossary.htm http://www.nfrpartners.com/nfrcomm1.htm Hope this helps! Mike R.
  3. Hi All! I'm doing a lesson on cnc communications next week, and was looking for some general information on stuff like buad rates, data bits, stop bits, parity, etc. I could just use what I know and some stuff from text books, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any web sites that had some snappy graphics I could use. Or if anyone has done any lesson plans on this, I'd really appreciate the help. (I know this should be a topic for the instructor page, but I thought this would be a better resource). Thanks in advance! Mike R.
  4. Peter, With all due respect (and I mean that), I've seen programs come down from, well, programming, that have HAD to be fixed by the "operator". Sometimes thats what keeps the floor running while the programmers are not there. Converesly, I've seen your point too, when no matter what operator is running the job, they HAVE to "fix" it. Both sides, now... It ain't a perfect world our there... Respectfully, Mike R.
  5. I humbley agree, Jack. I don't think an optical surface is possible to machine using a ball end mill (without having a step over distance of about .000000000001) (just a guess).. Mike R.
  6. Hey now, James was only trying to help!!!!!! BTW James, nice beeneeeee.........!!!! Respectfully, Mike R.
  7. Thanks Mike, but when I hit the select button, nothing is there. Like, there are no defined ops that came with V9. ??????? What now? Mike R.
  8. Hi All! I'm using V9, and when I go into the ops manager, right click, and try to "get" an operation (1/2-13), there's nothing there. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance, Mike R.
  9. Congrats Corey! Kids are cool....I'm helping my 9 year old daughter learn to cook. Mabye by the time she's 20 I can teach her how to clean her room! Mike R.
  10. MillTurn, I'd say "YES" to that!!! JMHO Mike R.
  11. Stress? Isn't stress the reason God created BEER?????
  12. Thanks Kevin! I'm just wondering why someone on a VMC would use inches per rev.....? Mayhaps they are lathe people at heart? Very Respectfully, Mike R.
  13. I'm sure I'm missing something, but why would IPR be used on a mill, outside of mabye tapping?? Respectfully, Mike R.
  14. Hi James! Who said I'd charge them???????????? Respectfully, Mike R. Shameless MasterCAM Perpheser
  15. Hi John! Yup, open mcam, go to file, edit, pst, then file, search for "arcoutput", and change the "1" to a "0", save, and there you go!!!!!!! Hope that helps! Mike R.
  16. Hi RStuart! I'm from Corning Community College, which is in your neck of the woods. If you need any of your programming staff trained, please let me know!!! (shameless marketing, I know......) Mike R.
  17. Thanks! Actually, I visited a close freind of mine in Utah a few weeks ago, and we went mountain climbing (it had a different meaning in the Marine Corps...), but what you see in the background is Salt Lake City. I had a hard time getting on the plane back to New York......... Mike R.
  18. I dunno, but I have a "CellCon" VMC w/fanuc OM controller (purchased in 1995) that has "issues" with rigid tapping. Seems the "Z" axis is not "synched" up with the spindle motor drive.... It's not a perfect world......... Mike R.
  19. Um, I'm missing something here. What's the difference between milling out a slot using the pocketing operation vs. the new slotting operation? Is in just the way the tool moves from one cut depth to the next? Thanks in advance!! Mike R.
  20. Or just convert it to a parasolid (x_t)... HTH, Mike R.
  21. Some pretty storng opinions on this one!! I work with various union companies, and find that everything depends on the companies relationship to the union. That's all I'm sayin on this one......... Mike R.
  22. Hi Thad! I've had good luck importing in parasolid files from UG into mcam. (the extention is .x_t) HTH, Mike R.
  23. Hi Nate! I have a VMC 45 with a mark century 2000 control, and have had some problems downloading, but after getting the communications set up right in mcam (parity, baud rate, etc.) all works well. Make sure these settings are correct, and good luck! You can email me if you have any questions about this stuff. Respectfully, Mike R.
  24. Thanks for the speedy replies Charles & James! That's what I thought, too. But what GD&T are you talking about James? I've tried to use the gd&t c-hook that's availible on this page for 2 years, and have had no success. I think it's my video card, though. (Nvidea gforce 2). Thanks again!!!!!!! Mike R.
  25. I'm just wondering how much time college instructors allot to teaching drafting (not geometry creation, but dimensioning, etc.) in mcam. I don't see spending alot of time on it, as most mcam professionals use it for CAM, but I'm wondering what other people do. (I'm redoing my mastercam classes this fall). Thanks in advance! Mike R.
