  1. Oh by the way - No crashes in such a long time I couldn't tell you the last crash occured. Sorry Randle, if Mastercam is too much for you or your equipment, maybe it's time to move on.... JMO
  2. J.Keilman: Tried what you mentioned several times with no crash. In fact I use this same method to create a similar toolpath for a turned post. Maybe your seeing this due to a setting that someone already might have mentioned here? Your issue caught my eye since I do this on a regular basis.
  3. Is X better? My opinion: Definetely NOT. I've tried to be as open-minded as I can tolerate, but most of my patience ran out over the 2 years of waiting for this so-called second coming anti-christ of CAM software. The time it took to get MC into a windows based system is not worth all the problems that we constantly deal with in getting X to produce proper parts. V9 runs like a champ with no complaints whatsoever, so I still remain a dedicated MC user with this version. After several phone calls with X issues to our reseller, with no helpful replies and answers, we are through with X at our company. I see more threads on X problems than I see good, this doesn't speak any volumes of a better software if you ask me. Sugar coat it all you want, but our copy of X is still for sale, CHEAP! (Free calendar included) OUT!
  4. Automatic crash report dialog.
  5. quote: better that letting X kick your a$$Yeh, that's the problem.... Take a poll, looks like the majority votes to problems more than production.
  6. And another thing, I know that the 1st X update is out. (For at least 2 weeks now) So when the heck is it going to be released? Or is this going to go down the same road as the X release? I refuse to wait 2 F'in years for the updates as well. If V9 didn't run like a clock and keep me pleased as it does, I would have pulled my stakes with Maintenance and CNC software a year and a half ago. Sorry to vent.....
  7. X FOR SALE - CHEAP! Back in it's box!!!!!!! I've already posted my feelings on X enough already.....Back to Beta is my vote! OUT!
  8. I don't think its you Murlin. When we went to the X roll-out seminar, the instructor crashed X 9 times - 9 times! I've stuck to V9 after the last few months of headaches and lost work time. After all that time waiting for it's release, I'm just as disappointed as I was when Microsoft released ME edition. And to further my point, look what happened to that great piece of software.
  9. quote: CNC does not change things just for the sake of change. They are very careful to change things that show an improvment in a way to do something, or to conform to an industry standard. I have to disagree with that Mike. I may be wrong and this is only my personal view on "X". I believe that CNC Software felt that at some point, regardless of how well V9 performed in the old "dos" style software, they would need to create a new "windows" based software as all the other major CAD/CAM companies had done years prior to Mastercam. I disagree with your statement that it (X) wasn't industry driven. People look more and more, mostly "new" software purchasers, for the high glit, real pretty interface with all the flashy buttons. This does not mean that software performs better this way though. In my own personal experience with Mastercam X, I more than likely will stay using V9. I do not like X at all. I've been working with it since day 1 out of the box, and even put it back in the box a few times now. It just doesn't work for me right now, who knows maybe later on down the road it will. That being said, Each of us will make there own decission on Mastercam X. Some love it some will swear by it. I look at it this way; If I never heard of a new Mastercam version, I'd still be using V9 and would still be happy. At least everyone has been offered to opportunity to work with another version of Mastercam software. Like it or hate it, I still would have to say "Thanks for the the new opportunity,CNC Software"! But for now the old is still better than the new - FOR ME! Dan
  10. rsbeadle: Read the manual, Ok now what? Oh! I know! Wipe and flush... Make you feel better?
  11. Received "X" today, whew, huge step backward to me. I've been a keyboard guy my entire computing career and there is NO way that you can program as fast as you could in V9. Even though this is new software to all, it seems to me that you spend WAY too much time hunt & click, hunt & click. I was hoping that this wasn't going to happen, but it did. Command line entry still seems to be the fastest to me. I hope that someone in this forum throughout the next several months can shed more light on how to quicken the entry in X. Boy, all I can say so far is "Glad I didn't buy into maintenance for X!" Sorry guys, looks like I may be the first to say the word "Disappointed". Back in the box for now, need to get work done quickly. JMO of course.
  12. Maybe after the introduction of Maintenance to all it's customers, CNC Software should have provided Mastercam Art to all who signed up for the ploy. Even though, maybe not everyone out there could have used Art, it wouldn't have seemed like such a hard kick in the nads and the wallet for taking on Maintenance. THAT would have been a better approach in my eyes. I've been on Maintenance since day 1 and haven't used a single maintenance update to my benefit at all. I used it to get X, period. Hope it works out when we finally get it. Oh well, All I can say is I'm glad my boss has a fatter wallet than me and doesn't ask too amny questions.
  13. Un-install your current Mastercam version(MR0304) if this is what you are currently running. Re-install with V9 SP2.
  14. Nope, not at all. Imagine! They have Mastercam listed as one of the products it supports. HUGE false advertising ploy beyond any company I have ever seen. Call them, they will openly admit that the device will not properly function in Mastercam. If I would have bought this thing blindly without a trial period, I would feel like the biggest idiot on the planet about now.
  15. Don't waste your time or money on the SpacePilot. The thing isn't worth a hill of beans in my opinion. We packed it up and shipped it back after two days of worthless trial and ERROR. I called 3d Connexion and there reply is this: "We have no formal plans to fully integrate SpacePilot with Mastercam products." Thus, you cannot use the device to do many of the much needed features you would think you would be able to control with the device. You cannot even use the different standard view settings! Tried it in Autodesk products as well and same goes for them too. You can rotate your model or 2d part with the control, but it is "Only for perspective viewing" I was told. You cannot work in any of the views that you manipulate into with the spacepilot. It does not align the UCS with the views that it creates. All this thing does is give you a false 3d orbit control for viewing plesure only. In short: Huge piece of EXPENSIVE CRAP!
  16. Hey James! Been flyin solo for awhile now here in PA. Thanks for some of your advise. Yeah, I'd have to agree thus far. I use the same C-hook as well, and all the functions work flawlessly unlike this limo-mouse... Oh well, maybe the next trial user will have better luck.
  17. Hey all, Received the new SpacePilot today from 3DConnexion. Works REAL nice thus far with the exception of one glitch.... Anyone know a way to map the view buttons to the Gview options? I've tried every command under the sun, and I cannot get this thing to change GVIEW position at all. Any help would be appreciated, or I may need to use the return label
  18. Recieved my new SpacePilot today on the 30 day trial! Sweeeeeeet! It looks like it will take me quite a bit of time to set up all the button macros to work totally with Mastercam though. Anyone out there that can help with the correct macros? I believe everything is the same setup as with the SpaceBall controllers.
  19. Why does CNC Software do this? I think it would be smarter to keep quite if your just gonna through teasers out there. We've all seen the flashy "X" flyers. why not put a "Solid" date out there instead of there necks continually? I just don't understand it?
  20. .....or if were 35 kegs instead of megs.
  21. It is it's own executable file. Just open it. Nothig needed. BTW. removed sig line - I didn't put it there. someone is screwing around
  22. If you rename it, it is a very helpful file. Rename the extension, not the whole file name. This training set of vids are old news when it comes to "X". Several Beta versions behind. It should be pulled from the FTP.
