  1. Good to hear that . . . was a thread or discussion?
  2. I have a suggestion for verison 10 of MasterCAM. The tool "radmill.mc9" uses faulty geometry Presently, it uses the tip diameter only and no shank diameter is called out. Therefore, MC automatically calculates the shank diameter by the tip diameter and the radius. To generate the correct cutter path, you have to make the tip diameter the same as the shank diameter. But, you can't use this tool path in verify. The suggestion is to add the shank diameter to the tool geometry. This way the tool will (or should) work in verify. Just a suggestion. I know someone will say, don't use the tool, but we do. Or they might say, make a custom tool. I rather see MC working the way the real world works. Code_Breaker
  3. Champ, Go to the surfaces parameter page and click on the radial button "gap settings". Under "gap size" choose distance over percentage. If this is greater than the gap the tool will stay down. Just becareful that too big of a gap may violate your surfaces. HTH Code_Breaker
  4. You can click on icon above the comments - - it looks like a "letter". I will email you.
  5. Well, James, I use it about 3-5 times a month. I program for several machines and most of the times it is easier to rotate in editnci for a particular setup in a machine. Or if I want to translate and/or reverse operation outside the "natural" toolpath. Or if I lied to Mastercam and use one size cutter to generate the toolpath and another to cut it. For example, cutting a blow mold cavity with 1/2 BEM and then using same file to cut trim nest with a 7/16 BEM. Why do a cutter path twice, when one will suffice by using editnci c'hook. Just a thought
  6. TheePres: I did not even know it was a "male" mouse in the beginning. Code_Breaker
  7. Can you place the file on the FTP site or email me a zip file?
  8. Dave, This is what I get when I tried to edit the original post: Sorry, the time in which you may edit your message has elapsed.
  9. Madbub, You missed my point . . . I got the answer, but the email notications I am referring to is two or three persons are using the post to talk to each other about things that do not pretain to the orginal post. The 14 emails is only one day, I am not counting the others that are posting on other days.
  10. Rasmond, This does not answer my question. I want email notication, but when I get my answer, some people continue to use the post for O/T. I continue to be notified on their responses to my original post. I want to be able to stop the notication to these responses, but not the email notications. That is why editing 'my profile' does not solve my problem
  11. What do you mean? I requested 'email notication' when I started the post. But, now want the emails to stop. Will turning it off in my profile stop that? And, then what if I wanted to turn it back on for 'email notication' in another new post?
  12. Waterman, Don't know what happened, in middle of typing you a reply. I got posted. Here what I was typing: 6061 Al is too soft and unreliable for flatness. I suggest trying qc-7 Al. It is more stable and machinable. HTH
  13. Iskander, quote: ______________________________________________ You can import an NCI file created in Mastercam version 6, 7, 8, or 9 and make a toolpath from the file. The imported NCI file does not contain geometry, tool, or toolpath parameter information and cannot be regenerated or batch processed. ______________________________________________ What I did to solve this problem, was to create a toolpath using the same tool in v9, then 'cut and paste' header information from the v9 file to the older version file. This allowed me to do what I needed to do. I have tried to "runold" but not as sucessful as 'cut and paste'. Also, the allows for the chook "editnci" (which use to NOT be a chook--and why is that?). I use this chook on several occassions and wish it were back into the programs.
  14. Anyone knows how to stop the "e-mail notification" once an solution is found? This week end I got 14 e-mails on a question that was answered Jan 29th. None of these "reply" concerns the questions, just conversations.
  15. I use both spaceball and optical wireless mouse. My only wish with the spaceball, is that you don't have to "click" it off to continue your work. For example, if you are changing colors on surfaces, you can use your spaceball to rotate the part, but then either click in black space or double click on the intended surface. At times, this can be a nusiance. But, all in all, I like the freedom of a wireless optical mouse and the spaceball.
  16. Welcome to the forum Hertig and to the wonderful world of programming. One piece of advise--"there are NO perfect programs." These is always more than one way to do something and the best way is the easiest and quickest way that a programmer can do the job. Find what works for you, stay open to change and read the info in the forum. You'll just great. Hey, GP, for about a grand, you can buy an iges converter for AutoCAD Before AutoCAD 2000, it was part of the package, but then, "mo' money" came into play. Anyway, I always wanted to know what "iges" meant. Thanks for the info.
  17. How interesting. In the words of Johnny Carson, "I did not know that." Thanks for "feeding" my curosity.
  18. I tried to give my thoughts and got hit with the "too many graemlins" police. I'll try again, but will limit myself to the "rule of 8". I have not seen (lately) to many of these: (that's 3) But, I do like the action ones: (that's 3 more, or a total of 6) Now, it time to say good-bye. (that's 8 -- see ya)
  19. I have seen this alot, "please email {item} to me because I have no access to MasterCAM's FTP site." Is there a problem with the links at the top of this page "cadcam's FTP Site" or "FTP Upload Instructions"? I have entered the forum from three different computer locations, and at home, but had no problem using those links. Once there, I just drag and drop into my exployer and go from there. This is just a "curiosity" question.
  20. See MastCAM Notes Customer Newsletter -- 3rd Quarter 2003 Vol. 12 No.3. You can read them from Mastercam.com. Your chaining options are: 2 open chains 2 closed chains 1 open and 1 closed 1 closed and a point 1 open and a point Depanding on the results you want, will depend on what type of chaining options you want to select. A word of caution, make sure all arrows are going the same way. Sample file is www.mastercam.com/Support/TechTips/#projectblend HTH
