  1. Congradulation . . . I have five kids and three grandkids . . . It fun watching them grow, even better watching the grandkids grow. One of them was crown Jr. Miss Seal Beach Princess last Sunday.
  2. Thanks James . . . been there all too many times.
  3. Sorry about that . . . I did not see the question before and s "search" did not help. Must have had the wrong search "words." I will try not to rattle your cages in the future.
  4. Is there a date schedule for version X? Or is still in testing?
  5. In your ENTRY-RAMP radial button, change "Z CLEARANCE" to 0. This will feed your cutter back to the last plane. For example, if multiple pass is 1.0 and final depth is 5.0, then the cutter will return to -1.0 before starting the next set of ramping . HTH
  6. I have wanted this infor as well. I have two Post Processor User Guide, but they are for version 5 and 6. Where can I find an newer version book -- like v9?
  7. Working on a injection molds project for Gillette razors
  8. I agree . . . We have nine computers with MasterCAM on a net hasp. If an operator needs to tweak a program, rather than coming inside to one of three 'dedicated' programmers, they will do the adjustments outside in the shop. The problem arises when two or more have the same file open. I would like to see the same as in AutoCAD where a warning is displayed. Or like Excel, where "notify" is used.
  9. Include me on this project . . . I currently do outside programming.
  10. I agree, just trying to keep in simple in my explanation.
  11. Smitty, welcome to the forum. I have enjoyed what everyone has to offer. It has made me a better programmer. You will have the same, if not better, experiences. Enjoy
  12. What type of software are you using to communicate to your controls? What type of control are you using?
  13. If you are picking two arcs, keep both arrows in the same direction. It is the direction of the cutter path. I have found that one arc and a point works best. Sometimes the curvature of the surface will cause the cutter to go in two directions, but arc-point does not. Just a thought
  14. Is it CamFun or CanFun. Login name is CamFun and your signature is CanFun
  15. I decided to take time time now, but to no avail. What appears to be "center lines" ticks may not be. May be "pyramids" shape objects (three of them). The fact that the end points of the "center ticks" are dimensioned with 0.58 means they are NOT just tick marks, but part of the part. And, I think, the key to this whole quiz. Hences the name of the file "what_.58_dim.mc9" I believe the mtg holes needs to be "hidden lines" if from back of part. Very interesting, but no longer interested. Thanks
  16. Hey guys, change the color of the dimensions and you will find the true outline of the part. Still, don't see what is going on. Will look later today one more time.
  17. I agree with Midnight_Oil, the time you need help, that person (or persons) will be the ONLY one with the answer. If he is "band", then what good is having the forum. Old saying, "Many hands make light work." Another old saying, "It doesn't matter how good your hammer is, when you really need a screw driver." When I need help, I don't care WHO it is. Last old quote, "Can't we all just get along?"
  18. YOU WIN . . . WHAT IS IT? To me, there isn't enough info, I would give it back to engineering for mor detail. There are too many way to take this. Do you have a 3D part?
  19. Here's a twist ==> 7075 Al is to soft to get a "perfect-non-polishing" type of surface. No matter which tool path you use, benching is always necessary. I have used stepover of .001 with a .0002 tolerance and still needed polishing. The only alternative is QC-7. It is a little more machinable and yields a better finish.
  20. I agree with Mark . . . I would like to be notified when I am involved in a post. Unlike some, I can't be watching this all day. My boss would not like it. So, I only look at it during breaks, lunch, before and after work.
  21. quote ________________________________________________ I cut and paste things from here into a word Doc and have it to look ta for reference from time to time. ________________________________________________ I do the same. Why "memorize" the details, when you can print them and put them in a notebook. Then, all you have to do is "remember" where you put the book.
  22. Kathy, Turn off SPIRAL INSIDE TO OUTSIDE. This will stop the tool from violating the geometry. What is going on is that the tool is going from a narrow leg in your geometry to a larger open area. You should be able to run this file without any difficulty, but I suggestion you change your start point to the left side of the pocket (same Y point) to get a better ramping technique. If you have any other questions or problems, let me know.
  23. Try San Diego Cad/Cam and request book three in their series. http://www.sandiegocadcam.com/Mstrcm%20Hndbks.htm
  24. Kathy, I have done "tons" of pocketing routines without problems. When they come up, I always (as of today) found a solution. If you still do not have a solution, just e-mail me the file and I will return with a solution.
