  2. gcode, quote: I've put a zipped SW2004 solid part file in the Solids folder of Jay's FTP site. It is named gcode demo.zip How do you get to this site? I looked under cadcam's FTP Site. Code_Breaker
  3. Thanks, Jimmy, I looked at these, except post CD, but could not find everything. I won't have access to CD until later today I am looking for the vars that give run time for each tool and total time of runing. I want to pull the Z depth, multiple passes, multlple depth, step over, plus stock value, etc. from tool parameter page . Code_Breaker [ 02-23-2004, 10:47 AM: Message edited by: Code_Breaker ]
  4. Where can I find a list of the system variables? I want to use some of the information found in the NC Util ==> setup sheet. I need to customize our setup information to our operators. I would also like to be able to pull info from the tool parameter dialog boxes as well. Also, is there a post book available for version 9? Thanks, Code_Breaker
  5. quote: Yeah ... so dont tell me worrying doesnt work Worry is a waste of time, and when that time is gone, it is gone. Constructive thinking can accomplish so much more in so little time. Code_Breaker
  6. Welcome to the forum, Bernathl. When you are upgrading, don't forget to get the CD. If you search the forum, there have been some problems with "upgrading" vs. "fresh install." Also, I suggest you install MCDirect to your SW. If has some flaws which are being worked on, but for the most part, it will make the transfer much easier. HTHAW Code_Breaker
  7. Thanks, I will email you shortly. Go to top of page where it says, "my profile" and then follow the set to edit your email address. Code_Breaker
  8. Coxy, I have tried to email you but keep getting it return. Do you have a new e-mail address?? Code_Breaker
  9. Jobin, Welcome to the forum. May I suggest two things: 1) take the tape off the cap lock. In the forum, it means you are yelling.,2)read the first post for new users. As for the answer to your question, what type of file are you working with? 2D, 3D multi-axis, surfaces or wireframe? Coed_Breaker
  10. There is a couple of things I do to keep it in one spot, but, there are time that nothing can be done. If you have a rect with radii type of limits (or boundary), then break the longest in the middle and start the chain from there. If you use entry-helix, then play with the XY Clearance. By staying off the walls a certain distance with force the tool path to stay in one place. Also, check 'skip' under 'when all entries fail". This will keep the tool from plunging into the part. Then there the shapes that just refuse to cooperate. If you are you are using helix and have the proper tooling, then if doesn't matter. HTH Code_Breaker
  11. My name is Don Dawson. I use Code_Breaker because I was a cryptanalysis (code breaker). I worked on many different types of code before becoming a CNC programmer. I worked on multiple rotors systems, and even, wrote a book "Cryptanalysis of a Single Rotor Cipher Machine: published by Aegean Park Press in Calif. Code breaker always had a "nom" for nom-de-plum, or a "cover name." My original nom is top secret and I don't use it anymore. Anyway, that's me, Code_Breaker
  12. We use Fullerton EM for our electrode because they cut a trues straight wall holding .0002 tolerance. We also use OSG for both soft and hard milling. OSG is coming out with a line to compete with Fullerton. If they do, its "one-stop" shopping for us. As for z-carb, SGS is no longer in our area. Don't know why, they just stop doing buisness here. 13. Coxy, No problem with filleting your surfaces. I placed your file back on the FTP as "notchend_050rad". The inside corner radii are too small to get much bigger fillet. I tried .100, but it wasn't right. Also, changed tolerance to .001 and trimmed both. HTH Code_Breaker
  14. Thanks, I will take my time choosing my avatar. And, James, it's a spittin image. Code_Breaker
  15. Hey, I heard that the 200 post make you a "senior member." If this is true, then I have finally made it. Does this mean I can add a picture in the 'message' section? Code_Breaker
  16. Welcome to the forum, Mike. I am sure you will find what you need and lots of help for any problems. Code_Breaker
  17. Try creating a surface, then to remove hole use modify==>trim==>surface==>fill_holes. HTH Code_Breaker
  18. Welcome to the forum, Scott. I suggest running the tap slower in stainless steel than usually recommended. I normally, run then 10% slower to get longer life and less tool breakage. HTH Code_Breaker
  19. Sounds like something I would like to try. Where do you get them? Code_Breaker
  20. I have used 'start hole', but rather 'helix'. That way you use one tool instead of three (including the spot drill). HTH Code_Breaker
  21. I use to get so But decided that there are no perfect programmers and no perfect programs. I have had operators change rpm/feed one time and then changed them again after cutting 30 parts. Oh well, I just do the best I can and try to pay close attention to details. Code_Breaker
  22. Way to go Murlin . . . Code_Breaker
  23. Camfun, original: n, ";", comment, e try this: n, ";", comment nothing can follow the word "comment" HTH Code_Breaker
  24. Thanks guys, I will get started today . . . Code_Breaker
