No,
We are limited to choose one solid at the time.
What i usually do (if these solid are touching together) i merge them together using Boolean/add in the solid manager.
I do that all the time. I keep the solid on a different level on the same file and on the verify option window, i choose solid as stock and click the arrow to allow me to choose the solid.
From this file (TRIMMING SAMPLE.MCX), i replaced the bullmill with endmill flat and the tool is gouging into the part instead of making contour.
Why? Because we don.t use bullmill.
Thanks
If you have adobe acrobat program (not only reader), then you can save it in EPS files (encapsulated postscript files).
After you will be able to open it with mastercam if you are using X2 or X3. I am not sure if you can open it with verX.
Hi mfranco,
From Thad

There is something squirrly going on with your system. I have never had a problem with OPs Manager settings sticking in any version of X. Open your Config file in a text editor and see where all the file paths lead...
On my C:McamX3CONFIGmcamx.config file
The line 2122. Parameter files (PRM)? C:MCAMX3COMMONPRM
my path was from MCAMX so that was my problem.
Thanks Thad
As soon as i did the changes, it update the file OPMGRDISPLAY.PRM and is sticky there is no saving option
From V9 and MCAMX, we had training with our reseller in private and customized course with our own production part and project.
That was great because it a direct application for us. Those course are more expensive, but a lot more efficient.
I did not took a course on the web so i can't compare... sorry.
Also, when i make a changes into X2, X3 has the same changes (because it using the same files). I would like to have them seperatly. Ther should have a path to changes somewhere in the setting/configuration but i can't find it
Yesterday, i sent a request to my reseller, i am waiting for the answer. Their point was the same as Thad, by placing the file into ...commonprm instead of ...common.
At the same time, i did a search for OPMGRDISPLAY.PRM, and found it under ...McamX-MR2common instead of X2 or X3 (i removed my installation of XMR1, but i kept my leftover files). I tried to copy that file under ...McamX3commonprm and ...McamX2-MR2commonprm. And did a changes in the display option of the operation manager. My changes are now sticking BUT the updated files is still in the ...McamX-MR2common
I sent this info to my reseller...
I agree with everybody.
Horizontale machine is a lot more efficient than verticale if you have choice to buy one or the other, i would choose horizontale machine. You can combine two or three different operation in one. Also you can adjust very accurately those setup together. Plus (as it said before) the tooling carousel contain more tools, so you don't need to remove them. All fixture offset remain the same (if you don't move the vise)
We have 10 VMC HAAS, plus two line of (4 HMC + 2HMC) from Hitachi and one line of Moriseiki (2HMC)plus 3 Mori HMC. We are using horizontale machine before to setup vertical.
We make prototyping from 50 part and more.
I agree with Apps too.

IMHO the ONLY reason to use verticals is if your parts are too large for a horizontal say
The major subject is how much are ready to spend money?

There is a OPMGRDISPLAY.PRM file in C:mcamxcommonprm. I'd guess the settings are stored in there.
On the X2MR2 and X3 it seem that is stored somewhere else. That file doesn't exist
Is it possible that is inside mdm1202.prm?

I assume (and hope) that should be faster again...
I removed my screen saver, it was making my system crashing all the time (from X version). Then the system became more stable
Now, i am using X2MR2 wich is more stable.
A few week, ago i tried to work with X3 and had mastercam crashed many time in a row. I'll wait for the fix also.
Another application for multiple machine in the same MCX file.
This morning, i had a part that i need to machine
1)first setup on the HAAS
2)second setup on the HITACHI
3)third setup on the HAAS
I want to keep everything on the same files because it's easier to make the verify
While i am working on the Haas (set1), i open operation manager of the spotdrill and accept this, then after i open the operation manager for the same spotdrill (set2) and I had the message 'changing this tool will update your operation. Continue? yes/no'
They are linked together, I don't know why it's like that.
I don’t want them to be linked, this is not useful to make them linked.
Colin,
Great tool to use. Thanks

You probably need to run the "No History" Chook on the solid before you do "Find features". I didn't need to run that c'hook, after coping the solid, it has worked perfectly. I think it 's because of the toolpath that was associated with.
MotorCityMinion,
Sorry, no luck to put the part in ftp's, my version of smatftp's has expired yesterday and tried to reinstall it but i can't.
The file is in ftp's site under 'detail 5 opposit_slyd_x.mcx'
ConnorMac,
Because we have to adjust RPM and FEED accordingly for each machine (Hitachi rpm=15000max)(HAAS rpm=8000max)(FADAL rpm=6000max).
So i want to set them on mastercam directly then i don't need to play a lot on the nc file. Does it making the samething on yours?
Colin,
I tried this way to do, but no luck. I had error 'toolpath input edge/face not found' message.
Is it possible because the solid is body?
MotorCityMinion,
The toolpath will be lost, but i will put it in ftp's.
