You may have a billion posts to your credit, and be a senior member, but I dont think it gives you the right to talk down to someone, and address them like they're on two way radio. Calling him Pal and signing off "OUT" is as rude as typing in caps. I took offense at your reply, since I was looking at it from the original posters point of view. And obviously a few other people here feel the same way, judging by the advice of "sit back, be quiet, and observe, and an answer will come. Just dont ask questions." from some other newer users. I've ended up training a lot of new Mastercam users, both at the local college, and on their premises, and if I spoke to a new user like that, I wouldn't last 5 minutes. And Jack, hehe...the old 2 cents worth saying seems to me, to have been around since I started using the internet....And I cant even remember when that was :/ I know I was still using paper tape and trig at the time I get a feeling this topic is going to be closed shortly Just my 3 cents worth (I got a pay rise )

I feel sorry for some of the people that come in here, and end up with a roasting from some members (most of them senior), for not posting the way a posting "should" be. I'm sure it frightens some of them off. I know I think twice about posting something nowadays. Certainly, some requests can be blunt, and to the point, but then, a lot of people are new to this kind of medium, plus maybe some impending deadlines might produce a bit of a short fuse, and as a result, a brief, rather than a detailed, description. I know I've been guilty of it in the past. Just my two cents worth.
  4. Ah...You haven't done a 9.1 version for the Okuma? Thats OK. From memory, you sent me the V9 one And good work deserves praise
  5. Dave, Any chance of making the MPMaster Okuma post for 9.1 available? I've used your V8 and V9, and it rocks Regards, Mick
  6. Roger, That is correct, the MPLOSP post does support LAP3 cycles, but in a round about way. I modified an old version, which outputs the LAP format using the misc. reals. It would be nice to be able to choose the Rough Turn toolpath, input depths of cut, stock etc, and then have a checkbox type scenario to allow a "Canned Cycle" output. I've often wondered if it was feasible, both for turning and facing. Much like the choices you have when threading, between Canned, Box, Longhand etc. I get asked by quite a few people about this, and it would certainly be appealing Cheers, Mike
  7. I've been using STL files for stock. They work great. Sure beats a plain old box
  8. Chris, What kind of Okuma control is it? We've got three at work (OSP7000L, OSP700L and U100M) Do you use LAP cycles? I'd like to implement them into the post a bit better, and make them easier to use. Maybe we could trade notes Cheers, Mike
  9. Nice, all this secret squirrel stuff.
  10. This is off topic, but since there doesn't seem to be a Vericut forum like this, I'll give it a go I've just come back from a friends work, where they have Vericut. He tried verifying an Okuma Mill program (G-code) for me, for an Okuma vertical with a A axis (Thats our machine). The Okuma A axis works in the range 0-360 degrees, and controls its direction with M15 = CW rotation, and M16 = CCW rotation. Just on the off chance anyone has used Vericut to test an Okuma 4 axis toolpath like this, I'd like to know if you have had any success. We've had it cutting, but the problem is that there appears to be no option for the Rotary axis to be "Positive only" between 0 and 360, with rotation controlled by the M15/M16 commands. As a result, the A direction gets all messed up. I'm needing to verify this particular toolpath, for this particular job , with the eventual hope that I can convince my boss to purchase Vericut. I think to convince him, I need to show a true verification of A axis G code for the Okuma. Since its a Sunday here, and the local Vericut agent won't be in, I figured I might try my luck here. Otherwise, I'll get my mate to ask the local dealer Cheers, Mick
  11. If I had my way,I'd have an Okuma control on every machine out on the floor. Amen to that....Okuma have great controls. Their User Task is great, and the LAP turning cycles are fantastic.
  12. Good point Charles. That would certainly be one way to do it. Interesting though, that the Flowline option *should* have worked. Ah well, the fickle nature of computers
  13. Roger, I'm using V9SP1...The high speed loops are the option I would normally use, but I wanted to finish the flat areas as well as the walls...As it turns out, thats what I used...Surface Finish contour, using the high speed loops, and then I did a second path that machined the flats... However, I thought I would have been able to use FLowline to machine it all in one operation.. Oh well... Weekend now
  14. Brent, Well, I had several conflicting stories....I wanted to know when to expect it
  15. Has 9.1 been officially released? And, if so, how long has it been out?
  16. Trev, Thats a good point, and yes, I use that all the time. I guess I liked the idea of Flowline for the toolpath, but maybe its really not that good a solution to it :/ This is one of these jobs that I've spent too much time looking at....Especially on a Friday afternoon, when the taste of beer is looming
  17. Mark, Thanks for the reply. I chose flowline, since I could use the spiral pattern, so the tool is constantly cutting, and wont leave a "transition" line down the side of the cavity. Contour would be fine, but there are several flat sections, and I thought Flowline handle it better. I could break the cavity up into sections, and use contour for the walls, and use parallel or flowline for the flats, but its my belief, due to the shape, that Flowline should handle it alright. If I get a chance, I'll upload to the FTP Regards, Mick
  18. I think I might be missing something obvious here :/ I have circular cavity, and I want to machine the walls with Flowline. When I enter the Flowline parameters, some of the surfaces flowlines aren't in the same direction as the others, and as a result, the toolpath wont generate. Is there any way of cycling individual vectors? I looked, but can't find anything :/
  19. Jeez Grant, I could have sorted this for you while I was in there on Tuesday. Remind me to smack you with a Mastercam mousepad when I see you next. Actually, I might use a Sanvik Coromant catalogue. Mick
  20. A local company here, that I do a lot of work for, has Unigraphics, and they are more than willing to let me use it (I used UG for about 5 years). If you want, I could convert the files to parasolid for you, and email them back. Let me know. And confidentiality is assured. Email me if you want them converted

    DNC

Easytalk supports a restart. Thats why its so popular locally Only thing is, you have to edit in the tool offset and speeds/feeds if necessary
  22. Slick, Put me down too..I'd be keen to see that
  23. Oh, and thats running Win2k SP2 XP is pushing it a bit
  24. Well, I've run MC9 SP1 on a PII 333 with 192mb ram, with a 16 meg video card. Works ok, though, really, its only good for lathe Do I get a prize?
  25. Actually, one thing I just thought too, is that some user(s) may have a less than satisfactory relationship with their dealer, and so maybe look to this forum for alternative assistance. Maybe users should start their post with "I've tried my dealer, and have had limited success, and so I'm asking here" Just my 10 cents worth...(hmmm....10 cents doesn't buy much nowadays
