Engraving text on sphere

I have a shifter knob I want to engrave. How do I project the text onto top of sphere surface to generate tool path?

Transform - Project. This will project the geometry onto your surface.

You can also project the toolpath. With surface finish project

I would do it this way verses projecting a toolpath to the surface. I like to see what I am getting before trying to make something work on it after that fact by trying to project a toolpath to the surface. Either way mentioned will get the job done.

Solids has a primitive shape creator.

How I made the two spheres to represent the outside shape and the inside shape. Solid extrude of the letters and Shifter shape from the top view was done to the large Sphere and the smaller Sphere represents the floor to make it look like a closed shape the solid history has everything in it.

Stock model, or select solid in the stock set-up area

Draw a solid of the sphere on another level and pick that solid as you stock model
