As much as I hate to admit it, I think it was just an accident. But, it was a restart, and he was gonna get around him sooner or later anyway. I think he was a little impatient.

If you look at the car close enough, it looks like the v6 version with the raised spoiler on the back.

 

That being said, the guy did a decent job of not crashing 2 out of 3 times.
