HASP LOST

I just received mastercam X. I loaded it and then updated my hasp with the new code. It took it fine; no errors. However, when I run Mastercam it will loose the hasp several times each day. Anyone been through this?

Yes....we run a printer through the hasp and everytime we print something the system does'nt recognise the hasp and requires a system restart. ( Version 9 won't find it either )

Sounds like it is time to contact dealer for a sim swap. Go with USB sim, it works great. If you have a Hasp 3 sim it will not work properly as you must swap it for a Hasp 4 sim.

Hmm... I do have a hasp4 usb, and also run a printer through the hasp server, but we have 30 people printing stuff throughout the day.

It only drops out maybe 3 times a day.

I'll look more closely at this though.

Todd, Dude,

- Are you using a NetHASP over a network or a regular HASP on your computer?

- Is the computer being left idle so that the screen saver kicks in?

- if so, what are the settings when the screensaver turns on? password? sleep? turn off disk, etc?

- if not, can you verify that the problem is NOT associated with the printer - in other words, does it drop the HASP when there is not a printer connected?

Called my MC dealer, they are sending me a USB hasp to solve problem.

It never lost it before I updated to x. And no I'm not running a net hasp. Also, I think it is a hasp 4, but it's parallel not usb and I am printing through it.

Does upgrading to a USB hasp fix theis problem? I have a parallel hasp 4 now, and it doesn't work right.

I believe it would have to be fairly new to be parallel AND hasp 4. Did you upgrade recently?

 

simswap.com has a utility to test it to see if it is a hasp 4.

No, but they say that it will not work with a hasp 3 at all. My hasp works, but not well enough.

The test file is under the mcamx directory. I just ran it and it said it was a hasp 4.

I just realized what was causing it. It looses the hasp every time I print. I just tested it several ways. It does it regardless of Mastercam being opened. If I print it looses the hasp. What’s strange is that it never did this to me before I loaded X.

Same here Todd, It completely loses the port. You can still print, but the hasp is gone for both versions, the hasp utility in 9 can't find it either. I did'nt try shutting mastercam down, printing , the restarting. I'll try that in the morning.

My Mastercam rep is trying to get me a usb hasp, but it’s tough because they make you go through simswap.com. There they have box’s to fill out which say sim # and unique ID. It appears that haspinfo will only give you this unique ID if you have a hasp 3 and I have a 4. It’s back in my rep’s hands now. I’ll try to keep you posted.

All is well! CNC software came through with a new usb hasp. Looks great, works great, and (so far) has not given me any trouble at all. Kudos to CNC software for pulling through. p.s. thanks for your help all!
