Left over entities

I routinely get dwg files that have stuff scattered across multiple levels. I reorganize the drawing to my standard levels but sometimes I'm left with levels that still show entities. If I turn off all other levels and screen fit theres nothing there.

Could they be blanked?

The entities could be the background colour.I have had this and ramsaver fixed the problem of entities shown in the level manager and not visible.

The entities colour and ramsaver were two different

things,I reread my last reply and realised it was clear as mud

Steve, I'm not sure what blanked means?

 

Roger, I just tried ram saver, no luck.

 

If I window select there is nothing to select so its not a color issue, I've already moved the entities.

 

It will go from say 2,000 entities to 287 after I move them.

What can I tell the engineers so that this doesn't happen in the future?

+1 to them being blanked.

 

Josh, blanked means exactly that. You can't see them. Try Screen-Unblank Entity and everything that is blanked will show up in the graphics window.

The fact that some things were blanked isn't necessarily a bad thing. Now, if the Engine-Ear had blanked something out for their own design purposes and they forgot to unblank it before saving and giving you the file, then I'd say that could be a pain.

 

Blanking comes in handy when trimming surfaces, for example. The original surface can be blanked while the new trimmed surface is left available for you. Having those type of blanked entities laying around being visible would be a real pain.

It is best to leave them present and blanked. if u want (which i usually do), unblank them move them to one level that u dont normally use, then blank them again.

Here's what you might be seeing...

In our DWG/DXF import, entities which are in "Paper Space" in AutoCAD are blanked by default. You can control it at the time you read in the file, though.

Most DWG files have entities in "Model Space" and "Paper Space". We want to help you keep them separate, so this is how its done.
