I was wondering if someone could lead me in the right direction, I'm trying to use cutter dia in the control (32mp controller) to allow the operators to control stock. It seems no matter what I change the dia. to it cuts the same. I’ve tried turning the cutter comp in mastercamx msr2 to controller and that didn’t work either. Any tips???????

thanks

The only call out I see is g41, that’s with comp in computer and with comp in controller.

I'm not sure what you mean by lead in. G41 means cutter comp left, is the G41D3 using cutter comp left and offset 3 in the controller? I'm not really sure how that works. Do i need the g41 or could i turn the comp totally off in mastercamx. Then set the tool dia in the controller????????????

You don't really need a lead-out line to turn off comp. We set our posts to retract in z then turn off comp. There are alot of different ways to set it up. But if I remember our POS fadal we had years ago, it would reposition after turning off comp, so you better make sure your cutter is clear.

Prolly because you didn't have a lead out move. wink.gif

You really should (if possible) turn comp on and off with perpendicular lead moves. no circular leadin/out.

Fadal uses look ahead to turn comp on and off, looking always to be tangent to the previous and next moves.

code:

 N190G41D3X3.475F35.

N200G40

N210G0Z.25

The above code will not work because:

Fadal will turn comp on in the line of the g41 in a tangency to the next move, and cancell the line after the g40 tangent to the next move, If there are Xy moves at those lines. if not, it will attemp to comp by the end of the g41 line, resulting in an angular move. BUT, because the g40 line is very next line, and there are no XY moves after the g40, it is not comping at all, because there is no tangency to achieve. (am I making sense? confused.gif )

Therefore, ALWAYS turn comp on and off with perpendicular moves (lead in / Lead out)

Oh, and minus offsets will work just fine. You just need to use wear, not control.
