I am looking to machine letters that i have projected onto a surface but i want to machine them as pockets with a ball endmill and not just engrave them but i cannot figure out how to do that and help would be appreciated also i can email you the file if toy want to take a crack at it

Like rick says they're not all closed.

Trim up your Geometry and then you can pocket it

properly. There wasnt any Surf in the file you sent.

 

Surface-finish project is the toolpath you'll

use after you create a pocket toolpath.

 

Send it again after you clean it up.

Jagg,

 

There are no surfaces in the file you sent headscratch.gif

 

After I fixed your 2-d chains, i just pocketed using all the chains with a 1/32 ball and left the path there just to show you that the fixed geometry pockets, no problemo.

 

If you send me the whole file I can easily do it on surfaces for ya too. If you are at liberty to do that I am working at home a bit tonight and can help ya.
