I got X4 videos when I watched it. Most of the stuff doesn't really excite me, but the Dynamic Mill path looks GREAT.

 

Any of you beta testers use the Dynamic Mill yet for pocketing? Is it anywhere close to Volumill or the Cimco HSM add on?

Looks like we'll have much more control of grooving in lathe which is something I have asked for. That's nice.

 

I hope there are more lathe improvements coming in X4.

they don't tell if the new setup sheet will support mill/turn machine definition ????

I do not see Multi-Threading in the video. I Know it is in X4, i saw it at my reseller. Did i miss it? I would think that is a huge upgrade for mastercam and they would want it in thier promotional videos.

Jrygus, Multi-Threading is definitely part of X4, it is defaulted to be enabled so perhaps that is why you did not see it in the vid. Works sweet for 5-axis toolpaths too.

Where is the "dynamic facing" referred to in the X4 video at in X3? Level 3 only?

Are they going to upgrade any of there HSM toolpaths? I see they have a HSM add on. Why isn't this already included in the software so we don't have to buy an add on to get the HSM paths to do what they are supposed to in the first place?

Dynamic facing is available in X3! Just look at the "cut method" drop-down in your facing parameters.

intel quadcore?

 

i assume multithreading must be taken advantage of.

axela, I found that, but just wanted to find out if there was any "dynamic" control of the toolpath or if it is a default one,just looking for more info on it.Thanks for the help tho'

i never really got success with dynamic facing ,

the face cutter just stop in the center of the part and retract leaving a very nice tool mark....

5 axis circle mill!!!

 

this one is great, was very slow to try to do with 3 axis on tilted plane. Typically ended up scripting helixs in CAD.

 

great for helical piercing with 6 axis robot waterjet

 

 

also bumb nesting looks great(about time though, alphacam had tis a long time ago )
