1628 Error Installing X4 on a 64-bit OS

Hi everyone,

 

Several customers have contacted us regarding the inability to install mastercamx4-web.exe on XP-64 or Vista-64. This is caused by a Microsoft bug that requires a hotfix. This was also an issue during the release of X3:

I had no problems with X3 on my 64 bit XP machine...

If you don't load Microsoft updates automatically or on a regular basis, then you probably didn't and wouldn't see the problem. For those that do so and received a fix that had the bug, the hotfix above would help address it.

Why would this come up on a 32 bit windows XP ser. pk. 3 system with an AMD Athalon 64 bit processor? Ive tried to load all of the hot fixes at this site. and they all say there not compatible with my system.

I failed to mention my system will run V9 and X2MR2, this 1628 pops up when trying to install X4.

I am trying to install X4 on my new 64 bit box and I end up with no toolbars and when I tried to go to tool bar states it shows nothing to load.

I am getting the 1628 error when trying to install X4 MU1. I am not running 64-bit. X4 is already installed and working. I've cleared out my temp folders and tried various other things like Microsoft Installer cleanup utility. What could be the problem?

After installing X4 on my XP-64 bit machine I get a ntvdm.exe error. If I uninstall X4 the error goes away. I have installed MU1 and still have the error.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

I am getting the same error on my XP-64 bit computer. This application has failed to start because ntvdm.exe was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem. But it does not fix problem. Any ideals?

Hi,

My computor , i7-950, 12 gigs ram, Velociraptor 10000 RPM HD, BFG Nvidia GeForce GTX 295 video card, Cool Master Silent Pro M 700 watt power supply, Gigabyte Ultra Durable 3 EX58-UD5 mother board running on clean installation System 7 Professional. Original Operating System was Vista Business 64 replaced 2 weeks ago with a clean installation . Computor built August 25, 2009. When using Art and importing an image, Mpeg, creating greyscale, extruding .040 and trying to save art image, the computor shuts off and restarts with the message "This computor was not shut down properly" and the list of choices for restarting. This has ocurred since day one. Any suggestions? I have run Prime 95 and the CPU is well within the Temperature allowed at 100% for 10 minutes. No other instances of this occurs, only with Art.

Workhard, I was thinking thermal shutdown as well, but you tested that ok. Next I'd try re-seating your memory and video card.

I had a dll error on my 64 bit system at home but its fixed now...
