Member Levels on the Forum are based on the number of messages posted, and will be changed as follows:

0 - Entry

25 - Level 1

50 - Level 2

100 - Level 3

500 - Advisor

1000 - Director

Advisors may be polled by board Administrators on decisions pertaining to the forum.

Advisors may also send in a custom Avatar to be added to their profile.

Directors may have the opportunity to vote on decisions pertaining to the forum.

CNC Software employees and Mastercam Resellers are exempt from Member Levels and may have their company name displayed rather than a Level.

I'm thinking 500 posts for an Avatar may be out of reach for the average high contributor on this forum. Only 4 make the mark after 2 and 1/2 years. Perhaps we should offer the Avatar at 100 posts. Let's says it's under review.

I believe this is true. I failed to consider that the average member has maybe 75-100 posts. Review is good. Perhaps you could pick one of the topics that have a lot of posts in it, take out the two highest member's posting numbers (to allow for anomalies like Jay and I) and the lowest and average it, then put it like 50 or 100 above that number.

Perhaps we should analyse the current distribution of post counts and set the bar at the 75 percent level where 75 percent of forum members (With valid SIM code) are elegible. If this is automated feature and it adds to the level of interest in the forum, then a lower point would be suggested. IMHO

The types and quality of the postings from members are easily seen from the content of their messages and so I have no objections to the Member Levels only in that this is not an endorsement as to their knowledge of the software. Look at poor Allan, he only has like seven posts and he is the smartest guy I know (He just works...)

What Great idea!

Yes, ask 500 questions, you can become a advisor; ask 1000 questions you are on board.

Wow, two days my son(8 years old)can be an advisor. Give him couple weeks, he sure will do better than James and Jay. And, some his questions will attract a lot of flames (like "US soccer team will beat whole World?").

Thank you for making me a proud father!

No, I can't since that was a post that contributed to the thread biggrin.gif Posts like "Yup", "I agree" and other posts that just elevate post counts without contributing to the thread are "+1" posts.

Carl,

I agree that for content or quality - post count is not the measure of success. But for forum use, post count is accurate as this indicates level of participation. Help and be helped - A net-community coming togeather in persuit of something bigger and better.

Well, thank you! Truth be told, I don't even know who that is. I saw that picture and I just could not stop laughing because on more than one occasion, I've been called a Nerd, or a geek, or some other derogatory term meaning the same thing so It's kind of a way for me to poke fun at myself and get a laugh at the same time.
