Cut a Radius in Z-Y plane w/ Mill level 1

Hello All,

We have a simple production part that has a radius cut down the length in the Z-Y plane.

In the past we used a special domed endmill but it's a bit too big for a nice cut.

I would like to use a ball endmill and 3D contour this rad. I know in mill level 1 this is doable since it's just 2 axis at a time but I don't have any experience with this as of yet.

Can someone give me a hand? I can send a file if needed.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it.

Steve,

I will send you my file. I have set this up with 2D swept, however, I don't see a way to extend the toolpath beyond the edges of the part headscratch.gif

I tried ruled, however, I am want to cut a profile that has lines and arcs and ruled only seems to do the arcs.

I am totally new to these paths so I am probably missing something.

Thanks.

The only way I know of is to move/extend your geometry.

+1 extend your geo, add lines to the ends of the arc so you can start above and end off the rad, and your geo to drive along the rad can be extended at both ends so tool has clearance to enter and exit. I would put toolpath geo on a separate level as well.
