A question about tapping

I have a Fanuc question about tapping on my Daewoo turning center. Fanuc 0iTc control with rigid tapping

This works nicely to tap a 3/8-16 thread

I need to do a left hand thread. I've never done this...

I know, strange but true...

 

How do I do this.

 

My post puts out G32's. I just need to edit my code to get it to left hand thread and then I'll address my post.

Any help would be VERY appreciated

Should be just able to do a M04 and be done with it.

Works fine. But the lathe won't. I'm just trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

I think you'll need something other than G84..

no idea what though.. maybe G85??

G I think you are on to something. I am use to our machine where spindle speed controls things, but on those controls it might just be a code for left hand tapping.

Wouldn't G74 work on lathe also?

Some machines do a G84.1 for left hand threads.

G74 is Left hand thread.

 

gcode G85 is canned cycle: boring, no dwell, feed out.
