AFAIK, you don't disable it.

 

This is where using the level manage and turning the solid level off will come into play

me too. on a really busy part file, with hundreds of levels, having to toggle levels on/off constantly just to trim is a pain.

While I have the same issues with it as others, there are certainly times I do find it handy. All it needs is a little "ignore solids" toggle.

Tha would be typical CNC fashion. How about a "Don't Ignore Solids" button? Kinda like "Coolant on" until I say "Coolant off"....

I hate it too. When i create curve on solid edge and trying to select it, smart cursor has priority to select solid edge NOT curve! AAARGH

If you switch to unshaded, the autocursor will prioritize the wireframe over the solid

So does anyone know if this option is going to be changed or removed anytime soon. It is very annoying. And I realize you can turn the level off, but if you have a very large solid, turning this on and off sometime takes a long time.

 

I think they need to add an option to the autocursor setting or the config, to allow us to turn this feature off.

 

Beside why would you every want to prioritize trimming a line to a solid rather than other created geo?

What about right clicking your QM icons for Lines Curves and Splines. Then it will "only" select Curves Lines and Splines.

Or turn off shading...

Or QM all wireframe, then Alt+E to hide everything. Do your work and Alt+E to bring it all back.

ALT S shading off/on makes this feature easy to use.

 

I like this feaure, it is very useful but does take some getting used to..

much like trim preview .. many people like it .. many people hate it ... so they gave us a switch
