Old school 3d toolpaths?

Is mastercam eventually going to drop the none 3d HSM toolpaths? Why hasn't there been any changes to them since X came out? Our shop try’s to use all the 3d HSM toolpaths but we still need some of the old style because they haven't been replaced. Any thoughts?

I believe they are working to upgrade the old school 3D toolpaths so their menus

conform to the new tree style interface, but I'm pretty sure they are not going anywhere.

The new 3D high speed stuff is pretty cool, but there are many cases where old school rules

Everyone I talk to uses mostly the old toolpaths. With all these high speed machines out there Mastercam should make the toolpaths that everyone likes into HSM. Especially the finish toolpaths. It’s even easier on the old machines.

The new linking geo added into the old finishing toolpaths would make me salivate. The old paths seem much easier to get the result I am looking for. I find with say scallop that the HSM won't give me clean motion around the edges, but the old scallop pass will. Add the new linking to it and you wouldn't need the hsm.... I have found though in recent projects, that I can get the same output, but the lengths required to do so sometimes are insane... Changing system tolerances, regenerating display, converting solids to surfaces, creating cleaner boundary geo, and sometimes I get nothing better than what I had before doing any of the above...

I know I spent the last 2 days relying HEAVILY on the Hybrid Finish because nothing else would would tough in the way I needed it to cut.

Yes the Hybrid Finish is a good one. I wish it would do more of a contour and shallow vs. a contour and scallop but still works well.
