Can anyone suggest a good laptop for running mcam x4

Im not a tech guy and cannot biuld computers just something that can be store bought and will have good processing and graphics

Dell makes some nice laptops. Just make sure you get a good quadro card in whatever you buy.

I've seen James Meyette's rig and it's faster than most of our Desktop Worktations. He swears by Sager also.

I go with the Dells, I used the Sagers in the past big heavy rigs and found the right Dell Precision Laptop has the same speed.

They are not bad but but I am not a fan.

Actually the last Sager I bought was their top model. It was big and very heavy. I used it for a month and decided I wanted more portability. I gave them call, and no problems at all they swapped it out for me. My new rig is perfect size and portability, and crazy power. Windows index 7.5.

I had a Dell Precision M90 at my last job. It ran X3 very well. I have heard good things about Sager too. If I were to buy a laptop I may give them a try.

I just wouldnt think at around 170 it would do the job but ive seen several references recommending it so looks like thats where im headed and if im not happy with it its not much of a hit on the wallet

I've got an M4600 from Dell Outlet.. paid about $1K with shipping/taxes and a 3 year warranty

Its got an i7 proccessor, a 128 SSD , 8 gig of ram and a medium range Quadro video card,

It runs Mastercam better than a lot of desktops I've owned.

what is around 170 are you looking at a M90 I hope not they are really old. If you were to go back some then look at the M6300 can get that cheap but I would look like Gcode said at the outlet for Dell.

My laptop now rocks , it is in my sig.

We have a 4600, 6600 and 6700 I get to use at work all have 16 gig of Memeory and Range from the 4000M to the 6000M Quardo cards. All do some serious work and are great machines.

 

IMHO can never go wrong with a Dell.

Windows experience index 7.2

 

Runs mastercam, CATIA and all the others (outlook, excel) simultaneously without issue. Got it for just over half of what it would have been otherwise.

 

I'm happy with it.

+1 on the M6600 from Dell, It has been flawless so far. Go with the SSD, i7 , min 8GB, and Nvidia 4000. Our old tower slowed when we added Verisurf, not this thing. You wouldn't be disappointed.

Eric I am with you my M6600 handles Mastercam ,Solid works, Space Claim and Verisurf very well and running a few them at the same time not an issue.

Ya ive never had mcam open up in 2 seconds and paired with my 24 in monitor ive got a nice work station set up at home
