Q. Does anyone have a post for a [insert machine or control name here]?

A. Ask this question as your first message here and you won't necessarily like the responses you receive. Look to your reseller to supply you with the proper post for your machine, or quote for the work that needs to be done.

Posts can usually be found on the cd rom...

After reading the FAQ at the top of the page.

Just a little thought about posts that maybe looking at it a little bit differently

Don’t you think the people are coming to this site for a reason? Ever wonder why.

As a new user to MC you tend to really rely on your reseller a great deal to no what

they are selling. What seems to be lacking is the requirement to get you up

and running POSTS. They come in and show you all the bells and whistles for MC

& say theirs a lovely helpful website to answer all your questions.

Me thinks there must be a lot of resellers out their selling MC only for the quick sale

and not telling people its MC plus lots of time and extra $$ for the modified posts.

PS. The website is very helpful.

Enough with the request for Fanuc posts, already! The f-ing CD has a perfect Fanuc lathe post on it, set the switches the way you want and post the friggin code

What seem to be lacking, judging by the amount of people coming here looking for post processors for free, are Mastercam users willing to invest a few hours of their time in making their posts more functional. I have 20 CNC machines with all of these controls: Fanuc 10T, Fanuc 18T, Fanuc 6M, Fanuc 18M, Yasnac MX3, Yasnac 2000G, Yasnac 2000GII, Okuma 5020L, Okuma U10M, Okuma E100L, Okuma U100L, and we have dialed in posts for each one ourselves with MUCH help from members of this forum (Matt, Jay, James, Marc Lindsey, Roger Martin, Phil Cotterell, Brent Wilkerson, Noel Sevigny, and many more) and the advice of Steve Biehl at S4A, our reseller.

It took many hours, much on our own time, to get these dialed in to pretty much exactly output each line where we want it in the format we want. That being said, I'm sick of people bitching about Mastercam's posts; everything you need for a straight-forward 3- or 4-axis machine is there to work with so quit crying and put some time into it.

Yea,thats right Chris,

I just recently downloaded the mpmaster (as you know) and spent 4 hrs. getting it to post the way I like it.

These were basic changes, that although I am not real familiar with doing, with some help from my fellow friends here and a little "time and effort on my part",I am rocking now! cheers.gif

It is easier to just complain then to just do something about it.

My advice is to come here, participate,be respectful (to a point) and you will find everything you need here. cool.gif

Very nicely said, Chris!! cheers.gif

When I first started programming, it was with Virtual Gibbs, around ver. 3 or 4. The first thing I noticed was how CRAPPY the posts were. The second thing I noticed was how crappy the guys that WORKED on the post are. Which made me wonder... why can't I modify MY OWN DAMN POSTS!! I know what I want. I could do a better job than these losers. (You'd send a request to move an M3 to the line prior, and you get it back with the M3 in middle of a drill cycle, AND 3 other things messed up that were fine before you sent the post! mad.gif

All that's different with Mastercam. You have, and this is NOT an exageration, FULL CONTROL OF YOUR CODE! You've got a very vast library that SHIPS with the software from which to select or learn from. Consider yourself lucky to be in control of your own destiny.

Then you've got that "web site that will answer all your questions". Yes, it will answer all your questions. But it's a community. It's not a help file. You don't come in screaming I WANT THIS, I WANT THAT! GIMME GIMME GIMME!!! You know what? "Gimme" DIED with "I want one", and an attitude like that will get you alienated quicker than sh!t.

So suck it up. Quit yer snivilin', and start looking at what you've got and what you want, then MAKE IT HAPPEN! It's up to you, not us! You've got all the tools you need, and all the help you need if you're not an xxxx!

Talk about missing the point I was trying to make. (Was a observation of people asking only)

If you are buying a new product and don’t have years of experience with using it, you need to be told. People need to be told its MC plus modified posts that’s all I was trying to say it helps to be told in advance. (So you don’t come here saying GIMME GIMME)

Who’s job is it to no that the posts out of the box are going to put in every code under the sun.

As far as modifying these yourself……… Not the point I trying to make.

“You've got all the tools you need, and all the help you need if you're not an xxxx!”

“You've got all the tools you need” ……… Not the point I trying to make.

Talk about touchy touchy subject.

Just remember these guys coming in are new.

Maybe there should be a separate locked POSTS section next to FAQ get newcomers attention.

But then again they should read FAQs first.

Relax and take a chill pill guys cheers.gif

Well Baitor I am sorry to hear your expierence has been of such problems. I will ask this question of you have you created something or worked hard on something that you had about 200 hours in and then give it away to perfect stranger no questions ask. I ask you how preciuos is your time and will be glad for you to send me anything you have worked all the bug out on that will help me any my company possbile make a 1,000,000 dollars for free.

With that said sir I ask you to go back and look at the wonderful help that has been given in the VERY FORUM just to me in the thing that I have bravely taken on to make my post and set-up sheets better. I as a person could not think of a better group of people to share and have knowledge shared with. I have spent alot of my own time working through peoblems and making things better by trail and error.

I look at it this way anything in this world worth having you have to work hard for it. Like Chris pointed out there over 100 posts on the install CD and right out of the box I have found them to work well enough to run machines. If you want to tweak that then you will find we all will help you in anyway possible but if you want a 5th axis post or a twin spindle twin turret post then that is a horse of a different color. If a compnay or even a person have embarked no a machine of that nature then it if dunny they would spend anywhere from $150,000 to $2,000,000 dollars for a machine then spend over $10,000 on a Cam prgoram then think a sepcalized very precise post just for there appllication just for there liking(note here over 4,000,000,000 in the world) must be made avaible and then wehn it is not they want to coem on here and demand that it be. Like I said before I have well over 200 hours my own time getting post set-up sheet and thing with Mastercam they way I like them but I promise you would shi? a big brick if you see the crazy thing I do. I have no problem Rapiding a turret on a lathe at 1800 ipm at a chuck spinning 8000 rpms and never blink and eye or take a 4" facemill and rapid it into a cavity of a casting at 1100 ipm and feel no probelm with no needing to wait of be scared. i set our machine and have set other machine up to run days on one part and never be scared of a crash. Wehre does that come from expierecne and trial and error. I hope you dont take my talk the wrong way sir but I have worked Damn hard and given up a lot to have the knowledge have and you know what I share with whomever I can willing and eager enough to learn this profession.

Ask a good question on here you will get a good answer ask a question in which even the FAQ ask you not then you get what you asked for.

Baitor I went into a palce and did not even know about this palce and was doing 5th axis work with very little expericence with Mastercam I took the time figured out post work and tweaked a 5th axis post pretty much in my own. I had soem help fro my dealer but the company I owkrd for is like so many and is the biggest reson people come on here asking for post. The reason is this plain and simple. The are what I like to refer to is as penny wise and 100 dollars dumb!!!!!!!. I have only been on here since June and I dont take no it cant be done for an answer and I dont give up and I willing to try and if I get it wrong then I gte up brush myself off and tray again. So sorry if I dont have sympathy for others who are not willing to atleast try!!!!!!!!!

Baitor,

A lot of the guys coming in here asking for a free post are thieves.

They download a cracked copy of Mastercam from

a Chinese website for $40 and jump over here looking for a free post.

Many people here say "have your dealer contact

me and I'll see if I can help". Since thieves

don't have a dealer, we never hear from them again.

Most of the legitimate new users get the help they have ask for. Some folks show up here with an attitude that gets them nothing. Legitimate or not!

+1 Gcode

I think a lot of the reason so many of us don't appreciate people asking for 'freebies' is because a) we all work hard with our stuff and while we don't mind teaching others, we won't do it all for them. If you want it, you gotta learn it. We'll teach you how, for free! B) It seems a lot of times we get pirates in here, and we don't appreciate them coming in looking for handouts when the don't deserve them.

I won't accuse anyone of being a pirate just for asking for a post, but I will accuse them of being rude, selfish and ignorant. Then, depending on how they react, they generally get all the help they could ever want, or they get an escort to the door.

Like I said, it's a community, not a help file. This place is full of people. Most of us don't work for IHS. Most of us don't work for CNC Software. We don't get paid to help people. But we do enjoy it. You've basically got 3 choices as a new MC user.. 1) Use the provided posts as they are, 2) learn to modify your own posts, 3) pay someone to make a post for you. If you're planning on doing anything complex, I would make sure a functioning post is INCLUDED in the sale. In writing, of course.

Bottom line, this place can be your best friend, your largest class, and your wisest teacher all at the same time... But you will ONLY get out of it what you put into it.

Point taken and view has been altered.

"10. Do post a 'thank you' when your problem is resolved. Other members may waste time offering assistance when you have already moved on."

THANK YOU
