Toolpath for external radius X8

Doing a simple toolpath around a an external radius. Starting along side the part then ending at the top of the part. At the tangency point (the last pass at the top of the part) the cutter retracts and goes to different areas. Tried changing the tolerance to keep the tool down.

why???

You could try using a waterline instead. It works similar and you can control your Z limits better which could prevent the retraction. I've run into the same issue.

Morph between 2 curves and don't use keep to exact edge and done. Can do it in 3 Axis and get a very nice toolpath. No filter for it unless you use the filter nci chook, but still a nice toolpaths.

Morph worked!! what are all those vertical lines prior to running the toolpath? also can I pick the start point.

Those are Vector Lines, used more for multi-axis.   I would just use 2D swept or waterline

You can turn those off if you don't want to see them in Backplot.

 

Click on the Exclamation point and un-toggle...

 

If you never want to see them you must set it in your Configuration.

Don't see any lead on/off also it starts where it wants to.

flowline data...but if you want full control with leadin/out Morph is the way to go...
