CNC machine for cutting G10

Recommended Posts

Many companies have graphite machines that will have the power to cut G10. I'm a Makino fan myself. At one shop I was using an E33 with an HSK-32E spindle not only for graphite but also for hardmilling. I even did some carbon fiber "government projects" in it. Depending on the part you might be able to get by with the machine you have if you change your approach a little.

We do  pieces  20 inch   max  so far

I just asking if there is   machine build for this kind of work and materials  . I mean with vacuum or spatial filter for coolant   .

Graphite machine  has so much RPM which definitely don't need  for G10

Oh no you don't use coolant. I move my tank out of the way and let the swarf fall on to the floor and then shop vac that crap up.  G10 will destroy coolant.

You change the coolant and clean the tank when you can't take it anymore. A nice cheese clothe filter on the coolant drains makes life easy. Running high volumes, I will not cut it dry and breathe it in. High chip-load, low surface footage, making a chip, it goes pretty easy. Besides the mess. Still better than straight fiber glass.

As above. We've been running it on one machinr for 10 years. Had to change the thrust brgs on xy once. Secret is cover guard's with close fitting wipers and adjust if necessary. Run wet definitely have a filtrr in the trays and dont run thru tool coolant until the jobs finished and the tanks cleaned. Machine still ballbars to 8 microns
