Using toolholders on surface toolpaths

Does anyone know if there is an enhancement request in to be able to pick a toolholder on the older surface toolpaths, like flowline? The only way I know of is to create another toolpath that uses the tool pick a toolholder, then delete the junk path.

On2018 can you right click the tool and edit holder? I thought I remember seeing that but cod have it confused with something else

Yes, in 2018 you can edit/create a holder for any tool in tool manager right-clicking on your tool.

However you can't select an existing holder from a tool library.

I only see edit, no create. But what I really want is to select from an existing library. Creating a dummy path & selecting an existing holder is still faster than having to create one from scratch.

I see they've released 2019 beta, maybe I'll check it this weekend and see if we've got lucky.

I wrote 'create' but I meant edit to create as you edit a Default holder.

I don't think there is anything in 2019 about that request...

It should. I usually do as everyone has said, if I don't already have an assembly built, I create a throw away operation to add a holder, then do my surface path. Kind of annoying but it works.

Yes, if I select a tool from a library & I have an assembly in my library, it brings the holder in.
