  1. Right now, I'm doing medical, mainly testing/assembly fixtures, some prototypes and some molds, plus I'm the go to when a mold breaks down or wears out. The place I'm trying to get into is aerospace, big company started by one of the biggest names, based in Malibu, many of you will figure it out. I hear you and Aaron about mostly being 3+2, but I'm hoping to do 5x interpolation as well.

  2. 100% this! When I teach my multiaxis classes (just did one this morning), I always start with this: Why do you use Multiaxis toolpaths? #1 reason - it looks badass and it makes you look cooler when it comes time for the raise! You paid for the machine, use it all! #2 reason - to avoid hitting the part/machine/fixture. #3 reason - to use the shortest tool possible. I totally agree with Kyle that 90%+ is really just 3+2. And of the remaining 10%, 75% of THAT can be covered with the steps I show in the video above. It's that last 2.5% that can get REeeeeaaaalllll tricky, though Good luck on the interview!

  3. you got this! I don't know what kind of parts/customers y'all have but I'll at least tell you this: 99% of my 5axis parts,.. 95+% of the machining is done in 3+2 haha! I'm still relatively new to multiaxis, about 2 years. but long story short it's really not all that crazy different from what you're used to.

  6. ALT+F12 (that icon) is set your center of rotation, but that's for the 3d controller/rotation controller (3d Connexion). The default behavior is to rotate around the Origin (0,0,0). If you set a new rotation center for your mouse view, but if you need to "reset" it, you can choose a new rotation center and hit "o" to snap to the WCS origin. It will not affect your middle mouse button rotation. Your middle mouse button rotation will either: 1) If you press the middle mouse button and there's geometry under it - it will rotate around whatever point is under the mouse cursor when you hit the button. 2) If you press the middle mouse button and there's no geometry under it - it will rotate around the center of graphics view. If you'd like to map it to your 3d connexion dialog, it's called "pick rotational center"

  8. Surface High Speed Radial should work. If you need to meet into a shoulder use Blend to cut this area.

  9. I can generally get anything I want out of transform..looking through his file, digging thru the nci, his issue, I believe goes much deeper into the database matrix...it looks like a slight skew, several digits out, is off by .XXXXXXX amd that is enough, that the post can't calculate an exact offset at 180°....I have seen the issue previously on a handful of occasions..even Karlo was able to see it and even he could not correct for it... Essentially his file is trying to create a move in an axis that his machine does not have... I hope it is not his issue as the file will have to be completely restarted if it is. I directed him to his reseller in hopes that they had a better solution

  10. Hard to fully understand what you've currently got without a file. I understand what you're looking for but there are some holes: are op3 offset 10-14 5 separate parts all at B90? or are those 5 different angles on one part? Using a generic post or something custom? Got any options on the toolpaths misc. values page? What does the output for B270 OP3 look like with your settings above? Do they get assigned new work offsets? Or do the B90 OP3 offsets get copied for B270? One of these days someone is going to ask a transform question and I'm gonna take some time to do some research and make a long post explaining each option and common pitfalls. Unfortunately today is not that day, but some day.

  11. I always,, a;ways, always create my offsets now via the Create new offset setting, then I go through and name them as I want them...and then I go through and do my transforms. Can you share your file?
