  1. wow if it doesn't work then I've been getting lucky. I better check that out.
  2. my computer resizes mastercam when I'm using up all of my resources.
  3. if your window was maximized and you "restore down" it will change your toolbars to fit. a way around this is to set your mcx window to "restore down" and pull out the sides till it looks maximized. then arrange and save your toolbars and exit mastercam when you reopen it will be at that position.
  4. quote: Having ranted for a bit, I would like to see MC solid modeling add more functionality from the parasolid kernel. +1000 they're gonna have to. they'll start losing seats if they don't. Laszlok is right. Once you get good with sketches and constraints you wouldn't want to go back.
  5. quote: then put control in auto hit PSELECT then write twice then send the file I just hit the green button and send the file. (okuma cadet w/dnc-b and cimco edit) are you getting any error messages? be more specific.
  6. quote: and bam there you go bam??!? that's not the word I would've thought of.
  7. quote: Also will mastercam become more precise and smoother in future. I'm assuming from your questions that cam-tool outputs spines rather than just point to point. that does make the program smoother but a lot of machines still don't handle splines yet anyway. but you can change mastercam tolerances to anything you want and your paths will calculate accordingly. keep in mind that a tolerance of .001 is acutally .0005 per side so if you choose to use .0001 your deviation is actually .00005 per side thats pretty smooth in my industry.
  8. quote: Where at? In the post dialog at the top of the menu there is an option to output mcx descriptor. click on properties and erase that message.
  9. I just figured it out. somehow that message was typed in the mcx file descriptor and being output into the posted output. don't know how it got there. but I'm glad to be rid of it. thanks for helping though.
  10. I'm not sure about the rapid move. But the message is only ouput on the first tool.
  11. anyone know what causes this error in a fanuc 3axis VMC file. I'm editing a post for a new customer and we don't have any Fanucs of our own so I'm not real up to date on them. I know I used a vertical machine def and not a wire machine def. so I don't know what this means. quote: N160S1300M3 N170 G43 H01 Z120.731 ( TAPER ANGLE EXCEEDS LIMIT SET IN MACHINE DEFINITION. 12. I've setup all of my holders as mcx files in the tools folder. I just rename the file I want to "holder.mcx" run the tools that use that holder, save, and change the name of the next holder.mcx file and go again. It's a long drawn out process but it works. I've asked several times to be able to see the holders too. The HSM paths actually do let you see the defined holders. I'm assuming that's the way the rest of the paths will go in the future
  13. I use the mist option for air. You could do the same thing for high pressure coolant. in your post just set the mist option for the high pressure M code.
  14. quote: Not my fault you're both wrong +1 I use this path many times a day and it is perfect just like it is for what I do. I interpolate all of my reamed holes before reaming them to provide good location and I can cut them all at once with one path. I just copy the geo from the drill cycles, never have to pick a point or a give a diameter it doesn't get much more automatic than that.
  15. quote: I'd be interested to know how many people are saving their files to a mapped network drive, rather than saving their files to local local hard disk? I am trying to get to the bottom of a similar (but not identical) problem for a customer of ours. Local drive. quote: I had this problem start yesterday after I added chains to an existing solid operation. I regened the single operation only. Each time I reopened the file all toolpaths were dirty. This morning I regened "all" in the solids manager and so far no dirty ops when I open file. Welcome to the forum, Sonny. This is exactly the same problem I'm having. It seems like there are several different or unrelated problems being discussed on this thread.

    Frustrating

quote: We regret this error and will correct it Eileen, does that mean your gonna let us undo solid transformations or remove that line from the help menu???
  17. thanks, Mark I have been using those work arounds and they do work good. But trying to explain these things to the operators everytime I do them is barely worth it. And if it happens to be a second shift operator forget it. But I'm glad you guys are working on it.
  18. I'm guessing corrupted file. I've had some crazy things but never had anything like that happen. But I feel your pain, man.
  19. this path will not permit you to have negative stock on the walls and leave zero stock on the floor. It will, however, allow the visa/versa. What is up with that? It's all right there at my finger tips and so far out of reach.
  20. quote: John, I am just amazed that you managed to stay off the forum long enough to put 6 hours worth of work into anything. huh!?! must been programming on his lunch break.
  21. quote: to many nubers you are right! what the world needs is less noobers.
  22. quote: I know Fanuc, Mits, Charmilles, etc. are very good machines but rest assured that Agie is the best Keith, I've been told that a lot. But I'm just curious, what makes agie standout from the others
  23. thanks for the info, guys. Steve, good advice, I'll give that a shot.
  24. We are thinking about buying an Agie Wire EDM. But the salesman told us to stay clear of Mastercam Wire. I know him well and he doesn't stand to gain anything one way or the other. In fact he's good friends with our local mastercam reseller here. He recommended ESPRIT. I'm just curious what others thought here. Thanks PS. I'm no wire guru by any stretch. I'll being learning both the machine and the software.
