  1. How about... MDI ---> G04 X5. (DWELL 5 SECONDS) M26 (TOOL UNCLAMP) ? That gives him time to hit the button then go over to the spindle. Just a thought.
  2. quote: tell if its what you wanted. Yeah that's exactly what I'm trying to do. Trying to go with what Millman and John are telling me but with little luck. I see you have some cross lines drawn up. I guess those are the "vector lines" Millman was talking about. I'm goint to have to learn how to do this because I have 40 other parts similar to this one still to go. Thanks guys. Kannon I'll play with that file and see if I can mimic what you've done.
  3. I put a file on th FTP site in the MC9_files folder called 4th axis vic. If anyone has a second I'm sure it would be quite simple. What I have so far is 3 operations and 3 work coor. but I think it can be done all in one shot, I just don't know how. Any help would be nice. Thanks again guys!
  4. quote: Ron, I looked for it on the FTP under the MCX2 but with no luck. I have had this problem a few times. I usually have to re-enter the username and password to the ftp site in order to get the latest files.
  5. quote: Thank you! This is the greatest website on the internet. +1 to many more.
  6. Hi guys. My father-in-law is a retired customs officer who has always had a great passion and ability for woodworking. He has kind of ignored his shop the past couple of years and I've been trying to convince him to straighten it up and get back into it. I thought if I could find him a nice woodworking forum, that would motivate him to do a few projects. He likes his computer and digital camera so I think this would make the perfect combination for him. Can you guys recommend any good woodworking forums with a little more traffic and not necessarily Mastercam orientated? Thanks, and Happy Easter.
  7. It might not make any difference but I like to find whole numbers to tap with. In this case 30 ipm and 2540 rpm. I find it looks better in code and there is no rounding out of the last decimal. I find it's easier to start with a feed and match the rpm to suit. HTH
  8. We used a "cheap" coolant around here for a long time and decided to try Blaser to try and improve things... No help at all still got the stink and greasy parts. Next time they order coolant around here I recommended Trim. The shop I work at on weekends uses trim and I like it. No fungus and it blows off clean. JM2C
  9. If you don't mind me asking Can, what shop do you work for?
  10. BUMP Hey Pip, how did this project turn out? Did you get a chance to put the file on the FTP site?
  11. No kidding! Good catch Jamie. Love the dart board coin. Good job!
  12. Look here. Best talk to you reseller.
  13. Thanks for all the help guys. Here's what I came up with.
  14. Almost. You need to drop the first .
  15. Hey Pip. Are you allowed to share that file?
  16. This one yes. I'm making a few others that will have different tops. One will have a skull and a few others will be black anodized with some engraving threw the anodize. I think I could get into trouble if I tried to sell something with someone else's logo on it.
  17. About the FTP site giving me trouble, I had to "open FTP site in WIndows Explorer" then enter the password to find the missing files. Got them now ty.
  18. Thanks Kannon. Still don't see it in the MC9 folder. That's exactly it Daniel, what method did you use?
  19. I see a MAZDA3 CAPKANNON.MC9 file there wich is the help you gave me for the threaded side. But I don't see a Mazda3kannon.mc9 file. In the MC9 folder?
  20. Thanks for the help guys. That was for the underside of my oil cap. Now I'd like to do the top. I want a 3D surface of the Mazda logo to go on top. I've got a 2D outline of it now that I converted using Wintopo then cleaned it up and tried to keep at as few splines as possible. I have a file on the FTP site called Mazda3 for this thing. What I would like to do now is create a surface that goes from the blue contour to the red center in a "pyramid" fashion. Any help would be great. I don't even know what surface creation type to use.
  21. I've tried this in the past but have never been successful. I put a file on the FTP site in the MC9 folder called Mazda3 cap. All I want to do is draw a spline(thread), that starts at Point 1 Z0-.310 and ends at Z-0.47 on a 1.120 minor OD. I'm sure there's about a dozen ways to do this and I can't even figure one out. Thanks guys.
  22. :edit: Thanks Thad. (beat me to it) :edit: Does it work just as well on non magnetic parts?
  23. How much are these "chairs" worth? Is that what they're actually called? Anyone got a link for me?
