  1. I have found it works best if you draw your geometry on the center of the Cplane. When it is rolled it then moves up in z axis the radius amount. Also of in the Postioning box click on Angle and -90. This should Keep it in the same postion just raised up and rolled. Then it can be moved to where you need it. There may be an easier way of going about it but it works for me . Hope I have confused you more with me explanation. hehe Eric
  2. We also use a gage to check the tap depth. But I believe it usually works out to 3-4 turns of engagement.
  3. .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. . . nope any other ideas?
  4. Thanks for the help. I guess it is not cheating if it works . I decided to go with a axis substitution toolpath. This way I can use depth cuts may be alot of unwinding though.
  5. Sounds like 85 ft/lbs IS tightening the $hit out of them. We have always just tighten the $hit out of them with a wrench but the handle is only 7" long. I'm sure this is under the 85ft/lbs but I have not measured it... I do not know how I'm going to get a torque wrench on it when the knob only has 2 flats on it Rick We are thinking about purchasing a Haas EC-400 as well. How do you like yours so far?
  6. Hello all I have had this problem for some time now and I would like to find a way to get it working. I am trying to mill a helix on our 4th axis using a 3d contour. The toolpath works fine but I can not figure out how to get depth cuts to work? Luckily so for I've only had to run 2 or 3 parts so in the past I cheated and just kept changing the tools length offset or creating geometry for each depth of cut. I have put the file on the ftp site called 3D CONTOUR HELIX.MC9 (It is not pretty but it did the job ) Thank you Eric Still using mill V9.1
  7. Still nothing yet here. I think our IT guy might be holding out on us
  8. Chris you set the z work offset for each job. eg. tools set from table. Z value work offset is is the height of the programed z zero.
  9. Try setting up more than 1 job up at once that use the same tools and see which works better.
  10. Dangerous?? Your table does not change height? Set a standard. ALL TOOLS SET ON TABLE. Done Why would you want to keep re-setting you tools? each time you change jobs?
  11. I do it all the time on our VF3 ANd VF2 Mills. That is the only way to go in my book.
  12. There are "Involute splines" that are similar in form to internal and external involute gears. the internal splinr is held to basic dim. and the external spline is varied to control the fit.

  14. A spline is used to mate 2 parte together (internal and external) which are then locked.
  15. Oh no....you didn't.... you did. Hang on
  16. 1 Haas VF3 with pallet changer 1 Haas VF2 with 4th axis And hopefully in the next couple of months I can talk the boss into buying a Haas EC 400 horizontal mill.
  17. Looks like you work offset is not at the top of your material. Try and analyze a point on the top of your part and see where it is at. If that is right you might want to also check the operation Top of stock and Depth settings?
  18. Hello all Is there an option in the Configuration settings somewhere to specify whether to open a model file in wire frame or shaded? I've been looking but so far no luck? Thanks Eric
  19. You could try to extend the geometry for the step,. Create the fillet then just trim it back?...If that id what you are looking for?
  20. Seat time.... There are some tutorials out there that are good to get you started, and if you run into trouble you have already found this forum. Welcome
