  1. Hello all I have only been using a floppy disk to load in programs into our VF2 and VF3 Mills. Now I have a job comming up that will requite DNC so we are trying to connect a cable to the machine but I can not get it to send or recieve a program? I think it may be the settings but I am not quite sure. Could someone please let me know what the settings or parameters should be to use the port? I can not find it in the manual. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Eric
  2. thanks Millman. I have been wanting to try the HTML setup sheet but just been too busy to mess around with someting new. Guess that's good thing. Having diferent pics for each kind of tool is not very important, just thought it might help on those early mornings when the brain has not quite gotten up yet Thanks for your time Eric
  3. Hello James I have been buged by this for quite some time and had never had the time to fix it. I do have the images in the file and they show up proper in the tool library but when I print a tool list report all the graphic images only mills? I think that this is also the problem that wcc is having? any ideas? Thanks Eric
  4. I belive Mike's right. I have had that hapen in the past but I did get a G41 called up but it was in an arc move not a linier move. ALARM. Shrinking the Entry/Exit arc clearance fixed the problem.
  5. I've been wanting to try this for a while now..just have not run into the right job for it yet I thought it would be realy cool if I could put a part in each of the machines tools push the go button and it would run thru all the parts, sounds like fun...in theory!
  6. Thanks for the formula Kevin. I Saw it a while ago but could not remember it. Would be cool if mastercam would work it out for ya Thanks
  7. Also..if you add a point to the geometry at the center of the bore. IN the Lead IN/Out you can then check the "Use entery point" and the mill will start at the center of your bore then move to the your Lead in point. Saves tinkering with your sizes to start at the center.
  8. Hello One nice thing about useing cutter compensation type "wear" is that you no not need to have a lead in and lead out over 50% of you mill size. This Makes milling in tight bores much easyer. You might want to give it a try. Eric
  9. Hello You could try and copy the file then create a rectangle over half of the wheel. Then use it to extrude cut the wheel in half. That should give you the profile you need. It you just want the outline you could the create edge curves in that face. Just a thought Eric
  10. remind me never to make my x-mas gifts! They should be back from anodizing this morning...I hope. Then they still need to be engraved. looks like I'll be here late. Should have just gone to BestBuy! Merry Christmas
  11. quote: I've also seen, more times than I can count, where islands get wiped out, other areas don't get cleaned up, CRC is applied to arc moves, etc etc etc. I have had this problem also in the past and the lead in and out has always fixed it. If the lead in is too large mc will skip it.
  12. But if you look closely when you rough the finish pass starts at the large opening at .06 chamfer. I think when you change the amount of material the pocket ends in a diferent spot and the start finish pass at closest entity on the lead in will now be in a slot?
  13. hello Rekd I think I have found you problem. Your cutter comp for the finish pass is to large to fit into the .140" slot. If you change it to say .005 arc and .005 line. it works. Oh ya for some reason I also had to turn off the "start finish pass at closest entity(got me on that one) Hope this helps! Eric
  14. Next time maybe you should bump up your cutter comp a bit, cut it then measure the part. adjust cutter comp. accordingly then run program again. This will save you the headache of having to start over next time. Eric
  15. Did you check the stock to leave for the contour? Make sure it is not a negative value.
  16. Merry Christmas, Happy new year to all! Have a safe and happy holiday
  17. First took a Electricity and industrial electronics course after high school to work with my Dad as a elevator mechanic. When I finished there was no work. So I umm...bagged groceries for a year and got sick of that quick. In 1998 I went to apply at a local automotive machine shop but they would not give me a chance (I know nothing but I was very enthusiastic). So I went to trade school for a 2 year co-op course. Which exposed me to the world of machining. The CNC portion with basic mastercam I really enjoyed. The possibility of what I could make really excited me. Now armed with some experience I got a job here working with 2 HAAS mills. I waw just thrown in. The company has just gotten the haas and Mastercam so no one was very proficient at it yet. So I had to do a lot on my own which I have found to be a very good way to learn! Thanks for all your help here on the forum Now next month I go to school again for my final apprenticeship test and I'll finally have me ticket and feel free. But I see now that I can never stop learning. Machining is not my family business but it might start to be! Eric [ 12-15-2003, 10:31 AM: Message edited by: Eric Salsman ]

  20. There may be a swithch for this # Additional General Output Settings # ------------------------------------------------ nobrk : no #Omit breakup of x, y & z rapid moves I think this might fix your problem too? note: when editing a post make a backup copy. This has saved me many times fumbling my way through a post edit. Eric Salsman

  23. As for the hole re-sizing you can try the editacs c-hook. If you do not have v9 mc the squash will be a c-hook as well Welcome to the forum! Eric [ 12-10-2003, 01:35 PM: Message edited by: Eric Salsman ]
