Do you need to bring the feature tree into MC? If not go into Config/Converters and shut off Import Solids History. I run SW and MC on Dual monitors all the time and never have a problem with MC shutting down SW. Though, I rarely have a need to import the history. If I want to Suppress/Add something I usually just do it in SW and then import as SLDPRT. I don't like using SWDirect, since I have had it lose features in the past.
Just checked Monster for CNC in MA. Of the 8 listings,
3 agencies,
4 general ads (non Machine related)
1 job shop
Last year Monster usaually had 2-3 pages of ads for CNC. Not Good!
I think training and seat time are the only way to get to the level some of the people here are at. Check out S4A, some of those guys are pretty good teachers.
Have a VF4 here. Works great for R+D stuff. Like Doug said " You get what you pay for"
We only had 100K to spend and needed a pretty big work envelope, with 4th axis, so the HAAS fit well for us. Have had very minimal problems, and the service center is only 1hr away.
I have had too many problems with MCdirect. MCdirect tends to lose features, and if the solid has any relation it can not find it will crash. I just bring my solids in as sldprt.
