  1. quote: but it sounds like you need to put the integrex in a controlled environment. +1000 Your trying to hold .0003 on a .456bore in titanium. Asking a lot in an uncontrolled enviroment.
  2. Have a couple of Albrecht keyless chucks here, they work great. They come with a wrench, if you really want to tighten them.
  3. quote: I'm sure these updates are getting old, but I have nothing much else to do, so you guys are stuck. It's OK, some of these guys have nothing better to do anyway. It's good to hear you have reached some major milestones on your road to recovery.
  4. +1000 to John Turn off auto save. Use the Backup feature and hit save often. Auto save has burned me many times.
  5. quote: Does any know how to get the... cat out of the chimeny? lol Light a fire?
  6. quote: This has been a tough deal so far but I could've been injured far worse +10000 lucky to be alive Sounds like you will be OK, Good to hear.
  7. Glad to hear you're going to be OK! Very lucky indeed. About 2 yrs ago I spent a week in Umass myself, found it to be a VERY humbling experience.
  8. I was on vacation last week and I just read this. Sorry to hear about the accident. Chris could not be in better hands than UMass. Best trauma center in MA. Hope for a speedy recovery.
  9. quote: I'm trying XP Pro x64 right now. It's more trouble than its worth so far. It is faster, X2 seems to like it OK and SolidWorks screams, but half my apps won't run on an x64 OS. I did a search and this is what I found, written by GCode. He may have since changed his mind?
  10. quote: If you run Solidworks 2008 will not like it. Is this from personal experience John? Some of the engineers just got new 64bit systems, but we run 2007. Are there going to be problems when we upgrade to 2008?
  11. quote: How do I eliminate jerky movements? Cut back on the coffee! Haas machines should be able to handle 100IPM with no problem. Like others have said > Turn on filter or if using surfacing toolpaths- under total tolerance set the filter ratio.
  12. quote: Sometimes it also does weird things like certain functions don't work when I initiate them. After a Mastercam restart. It's all good again. I have the same problem here. Especially when importing/exporting operations from solids. Happens at least once a week. (can usually be heard saying WTF is goin on here?) restart usually clears it up.
  13. I was told today we are switching over to 64 bit computers. I did a search on this and I don't see any real problems running MC on a 64 bit system. Does anyone have any opinions (good or bad) on this. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks
  14. Every once in a while I will get a toolpath that loses what plane everything is on during mirroring. If I change all to top plane it works fine.
  15. Sounds as if you are in way over your head.
  16. The machine in that video looks just like the twin pallet machine I used to run.( although it had a vertical toolchanger and it would do toolchanges so fast, if you weren't watching closely, you would miss it. quote: Could I run 100 ipm acurately or would I have to run down around 40 to 60?Yes, we would run 1/8 end mills at 80/100imp. But we would have to slow down in the corners, or program to remachine corners.
  17. mold100, most of the channels we were doing were under 1/4". I don't think it was the taper size. Just that the machine did not comp well on corners. We used to do the same parts on Mori Seiki and Robodrill machines, and we did not have the same problems with the corners. The owner actually called Brother and asked them what the deal was, and they admitted the machines weren't very accurate when milling at high feeds. I did some research on them a while back and found out Brother is big in the sewing machine market. They are expanding into the machining market. quote: You can also have automatic Z-axis thermal distortion compensation. Thermal expansion was a big problem on the older brother machines. Over the course of 8 hours the machines would sometimes change up to (.003).
  18. My last place of employment had 2 brother machines. they are OK for light duty work. Unfortunatly the owner thought differently, his idea was to push them till the endmill breaks, then back it off a little. Machines always had a hard time with corners. We did a lot of aluminum parts with channels and the machine would always leave material in the corners. Alot of it had to do with the feeds we were running, but the Mori Seiki machines never had that problem. Since you will be doing a lot of 3D work this may be a problem for you. The machines they had were not conversational, we used to program them with SmartCam.
  19. On X,when you pick the solid, do you have the select body Icon highlighted. If so it will pick the entire Solid. Try just select face highlighted.
  20. quote: Oh boy, is this forum an asset I think you'll find this forum is FULL of ASSets.
  21. Works fine for me. What are you trying to do?
  22. quote: In the old days (Am I dating myself here?) I programmed at a place that had over 5500 tapes (in those little blue canisters) on file. I remember those little blue canisters myself. (1985) I used to like when a chip would get stuck in one of the little holes and rip the tape. I recall having to tape them in a loop because the machine had no memory(Matsuura)

    SolidCam

My boss was just asking me to look into SolidCam the other day. We do programming almost exclusivly from Solidworks files, and to be able to work inside of SW with associativity sounds awesome. I know Mastercamdirect is supposed to be able to directly import SW files, but if part has been built in an assembly, or heavily modified, Mastercamdirect will not work.
  24. +1000 to Backup files. Backup files has saved my a$$ on many occasions. I also had many problems with Autosave. I now save after every couple of toolpaths I create. Sorry to say but I think your 3 days of work are gone- that sucks.
