  1. shodowfax, Have you tried the protomx3 post? We use that with very little problem. I also have a post that we use when we want to dnc if it would help ya. Glenn
  2. I am just curious, when our reseller was approached about maintainance. He said himself that to purchase it only for X would be silly. He never really encouraged us to purchase it. Our systems people here were very happy to purchase it to help with budget issues every year. They also felt that it helps to have the bugs fixed. So we have maintaince and it has never been an issue that X hasn't been released yet. I know that we also pay HUGE maintaince on other software that we have. JM2C Glenn
  3. Oops how did I get it twice.
  4. JMC Hopefully someone will correct me if I am wrong. This has been covered before. If you open your verify.prm file, add a line 77, I have mine set to 0.0005 with a space like the rest of the lines. I think this is how I did it. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. This will also slow down your verify some, but is worth it. You can slide the bar to a couple of notches toward the speed when you want it to be faster and not as accurate. HTH Glenn
  5. Had this happen to me once, put down bottle, came back on Monday morn and everything was fine. Glenn

  7. Here is a start to my tutorial. It's just a work in proccess so use at your own risk. 1st - arrive at work promptly (maybe even early for good measure) 2nd - get cup of coffee for boss and myself(sucking up generally works better that being really good) 3rd - over coffee tell boss how great I am. 4rth - get boss more coffee 5th - get union steward coffee 6th - get another cup of coffee 7th - go to desk set down coffee 8th - take union break 9th - bake to desk 10th - get cup of hot coffee 11th - turn on puter 12th - click on mastercam icon 13th - get more coffee 14th - bang head, "now how do I create a line agian" 15th - lunch time 16th - back to work 17th - meeting, plant closing no one has thought out how to do things and improve on their own. 18th - get with union steward for benefits 19th - go to bar with rest of guys, mumble how we should have been force 100% training, not just given the opertunity to learn on our own. 20th - go home to wife drunk and get --- kicked for being a stupid, worthless, and lazy bum. I'll try to finish the next chapter when I have a new job. HTH P.S. If you put forth the effort to learn, you have found the best place to get help. Most guys here will bend over backwards to help you solve issues that you have put forth effort on. You just need to earn respect and you will receive respect. No one ever want to hand out their hard work for nothing to someone who hasn't worked hard as well.
  8. We have 3 Daewoos DMV 500 with a fanuc 18m controls. Have had very, very little problems with them. Seems to be a very good machine for the money. HTH Glenn
  9. The best luck that I have with flow line, is to unblank the untrimmed surface and retrim it to edge curves of the pockets. Then the 3 trimmed surfaces have the same parameters to cut with. Alot of times fill hole will have a different flow parameters. Personally I use flowline as more of a last resort. I have better luck and outcomes with the other surface paths as a general rule. HTH Glenn
  10. I talked to my dealer, and my dealer said " NO MORE MONKEY'S JUMPING ON THE BED "!!!!!!!!!!! At least untill X really is in our hot little hands. Glenn
  11. We used to get some kind of a bnci error when we had mastercam with toolpaths opened and then opened another with the restore nci box checked. Then if you ever tried to regen the first one it would throw the error. If you saved it and reopened it the toolpaths needed regened but it would be ok. HTH Glenn
  12. CRFJim When you see the 3d box you will be picking the whole solid, When it is a 2d box it is a face. And when it looks flat it is an edge. If you toggle the edge, face, solids from y to n, then you will not be able to select that paticular feature of the solid. I usually change the edge and solid to n so that I will only pick the faces that I want. I also will use a bull mill to do cuts similar to what you are describing. I get a better finish on the bottom using a pocket toolpath and then whatever surface path works best. This way there is no cutter mismatch in the bottom. You can also use the contaiment boundry to run the cutter in the surface program onto the bottom a little bit. HTH Glenn P.S. Lee, I have always felt that solids machined better for me as a general rule. JM2C
  13. quote: When prompted for Surfaces to machine, choose All / Surfaces. Why not choose the entire solid, instead of creating surface? The only time I create a surface is to extend the untrimmed surface (we call it a parent surface that is created blanked out, when you create the surface from the solid) to get the cutter to run a little farther than the solid is. Quote ------------------------------------------------ We have a Motionmaster Router. (Vista,CA) But we have got a lot of trouble. I think Motionmaster is still broken. ------------------------------------------------ We have 4 Motionmaster Routers. They all use a xxxxor control and I wouldn't say we have to many problems with them. JM2C Glenn
  15. STKSHFTR, James Meyette Said ---------------------------------------- "A" means you essentially have to offset your "D's" H1 & D51, H2 & D52, etc.... or something similar "B" means you have the ability for your H & D's can be the same, H1 and D1, etc... "C" means the same as "B" BUT you have "Wear" Comp for both H and D. So all together for Type C you have an H and Wear COmp for H, a D and Wear Comp for D. C is far superior to the others IMHO. ----------------------------------------- What this means is that you prolly have an "A" control. Our 21i are this. You only have 1 offset registar, So you have to come up with a "process" of assigning your other offset. We have 99 offsets that we can use on our 21i's. So we chose to add 50 to the radius/dia. offset. In our program you will see a G43Z1.00 H1 to apply the length offset for tool #1 and a G41/G42 X1. Y1. D51 to apply the radius/dia. offset for tool #1 HTH Glenn P.S. Our 18M are a C control so we have all 4 offsets on one line for offset #1. So we have an H1, and D1 in the code for running on this control.
  16. One more note, I know that on a Fanuc 18M, and 21i that Parameter # 5004 bit 2 selects " The cutter compensation value is a radius value (set to 0)/ a diameter value (set to 1). So it could be a radius, or diameter depending on this parameter. HTH Glenn
  17. Would someone here know what parameter to change on a fanuc 21i control so that if you use an M19 spindle orient command, it will stay active when you push reset, or M00/M01. We are using the renishaw ball bar system, and are having problems with one machine. After we capture the ball and send the cup to the position to load the bar it lets the spindle turn a little bit. When we then push cycle start it will reorient which causes some problems. Our Daewoo's with an 18M control does not release the spindle on the M00/M01. So I would think that this is a parameter setting. Thanks Glenn
  18. Thanks for the email Chad. Will try to work on it later. Glenn
  19. NuNu, I've been trying your recomendation quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you missed a fillet , click on the drive surface tab , add/solid/face. Regen , drink beer , verify , oopps missed another one , drink beer , add/solid/face , regen , drink beer.... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am now declaring Bankrupcy, and enrolling in AA. So you should be very careful with advice. Glenn Cheers all
  20. John, Should have asked questions here sooner. We had to wait weeks to get some manuals from DYNAPATH. We are now trying to comunicate with the machine using Preditor. It seems to send it to Pred. but not receive from Pred. Thanks Glenn
  21. Murling: Thanks, I'll take a look at that one. Mark: When I searched for "dynapath" it came up with no results, I'll try it again. Jack Kalal: Thanks for the emailed post. Thanks all, I've been really busy with several projects and will try all the suggestions asap. Glenn P.S. What a suprise, searched agian and 4 pages of topics came up. Must have had a typo before. Thanks agian. [ 04-09-2005, 09:16 AM: Message edited by: heeler ]
  22. I looked at that one, but it doesn't post a Spindle speed, which I think I would need. Unless there is something else that I need to do. Still learning Glenn PS Are you laughing at us, or with us. I couldn't believe it when they brought this NEW mill for us to use. I'm sure its pretty old.
  23. We just aquired an older tree mill with a dyapath 20. Does anyone know if there one of the standard post that come with MCAM that works fairly well for this control or one that they would be willing to share with me. Thanks Glenn
  24. Why not use the Digitize C-hook and put the points directly to mastercam? We have a digitizer that we use all the time. If you are using a mill machine, you could just reverse post it into Mcam. HTH Glenn
  25. MarcJ, I would start with your reseller, Mine is terrific and would come and do the basic stuff to get you started right away. He would show/help me see how the post stuff works and we would be running very quickly. Then you would get a working post, learn some about editing the post, and have a great relationship with your reseller. I use my reseller all the time. Most of the time there is no charge for the help he supplies me. HTH Glenn
