  1. Any progress on this so far? One of our plants has Tsugami's (I believe they are Panthers) for their Pin & Shaft division and they have asked my help on future projects... their programmer is out on medical leave for Cancer What are the ins/outs for doing this in MC? I do not have the machine make/model or axis setup but I'm going to the plant tomorrow to look at it. I'd like to have a "heads up" before my head gets down. Thanks, Josh
  2. Hey Ron, Looks like you've got it. Our InHouse post for our Hermle (TNC430i Control) has the option for 5X CC but there is a BOLD WARNING on the switch so I haven't messed with it. Just curious, what application are you needing the CC for? Josh
  3. Hey Bogus, I would strongly suggest changing the Machine Def instead of altering the post. I have found that altering a post in X and later versions has bitten me in the a$$ later. The MC Haas TR Trunnion post is very solid and very close to perfect in most cases so I'd go with the MD. The change should be under the A axis level of the tree. HTH Josh
  4. Hey BB, Tomorrow I'll talk to our guys in the EDM room and get their opinions. We have the same machine and a 2007 Roboform 350. I'm sure they will have some insight on this cause the thing is like "greek" to me... never fooled with it. Talk to you tomorrow, Josh
  5. Newbieguy, Does the customer mind EDM recast? If EDM is ok I'll shoot you a quote ASAP. Josh
  6. quote: I doubt it will do any serious roughing I know first hand that it won't. One of our customers has a GR712 and trust me... it won't take it. Sounds like your boss is an optimist and they have no place in the world of machining. "The road to failure is paved with good intentions" HTH Josh
  7. Wouldn't using WCS take care of this? I just got finished with a 3 operation/setup program using multiple WCS and it ran great. HTH Josh
  8. Start checking your Planes, WCS, etc. That would be my first guess. Do you have containment boudaries?
  9. Hey Bowhunter, Welcome to the forum! I was thinking Robert is right. Check your geometry and make sure it's right. I've had to mess around with the wear on thread milling in the past... ESPECIALLY on NPT threads. We put 30 1/8-NPT threads in CPM-10V and it sucked! Where in Mauldin are you? Our plant in the the CUICAR campus off of Laurens Rd... The big glass building next to the interstate. Again, welcome to the forum! This is the BEST place to get your Mastercam questions answered! Josh
  10. Hey Mick, One of my customers has a GR-712. It's a pretty straight forward machine. His has the standard Haas control which is foolproof. The Haas Control is a glorified Fanuc anyways so you could use the Fanuc generic post. I have a modified MP Master with a few Haas upgrades. As far as quirks not too many. I've noticed when we interpolate large circles we sometimes see chatter on the quadrant extremes. Be careful if your post is set to break arcs at quads.... I fixed the post and we haven't seen anymore chatter. It didn't make any since but it fixed it. HTH Josh
  11. Welcome to the Forum! There's not one that I know of.... Maybe one of the C-Hook gurus can help you. 1 thing is for certain... you're in the right place to find your answer! Good Luck!
  12. How about extending your chain a little more than your cutter radius (in your case about .3), join the 2 chains with a line, and doing a pocket path? Me thinks dis will work pretty good HTH Josh
  13. quote: Mayby tipping the part at 45. then running a standard e-mill through it might get it That would be my suggestion. Something like a sin vise or angle blocks should do the trick. Believe it or not the bigger and sharper endmill you use the better it will work. HTH Josh
  14. quote: you can disable its use while MCAM is the active window Cool... Thanks JP
  15. quote: MMT Whawhawhawhaaaaat? Are you serious?
  16. quote: MX Revolution Does the MMB wheel click side-to-side? I had a Track Ball that did this and it drove me CRAZY! I'm looking for a good mouse for the laptop and I was curious about the MX. Thanks, Josh
  17. We did this type of part for a food/medical company once. We did it on the Haas Mill with the 4th axis rotary table. Simple code really... code: T14 M06 (.2500 CEM) G00 G90 G54 X-.25 Y0 A0 S1500 M03 G43 Z0.6 H14 M08 G1 Z.4425 F50. G1 X0 F7.5 G91 X1. A360. L8 G91 X-1. A360. L8 G1 G90 X-.25 G0 G90 Z.6 M09 G0 G91 G28 Z0 G28 Y0 A0 M01 The G91 lines loop the code 8 times at the required pitch (1" in this case). Good Luck HTH Josh
  18. quote: I wish they made mill-turns as well Me too!
  19. We'd wire it just because we don't have a gun drill. :side bar: Do you use moly wire on 17-4?
  20. We have 2 Hermle machines.... C600u and C40U. I think they are fantastic machines. The C600u is 11 years old with a TNC430i control and it runs as good as it did when it was new. Our sister company in Manchester CT has rows and rows of DMG machines. They're good to but they have the Millplus control on them. If those are your only choices you could go either way but just make sure you get a Heidenhain TNC530i control... you'll be glad you paid the extra $$$! IMO the Hermle Trunnion Machines (Table/Table) are better than the DMG comparables and the DMG have better nutuating machines... just personal experience. My $0.02 Josh
  21. Hey Jay, When you installed X3 did you do a parallel install or start from scratch? Josh
  22. Welcome back Gorn! 1st tell us what control version, MC Version, Post, etc. you're using and we may be able to help. I'm using a Trunnion Heidenhain Post (Table/Table) from In-House for our Hermle C600u and the probing can be a little tricky. If you're just wanting to setup up a generic probing cycle you can do it like we do... We manually create programs in the control for general probing cycles (EX: RB-Corner.H would be probe the Right/Back corner and the top of the part) and then write manual entries in the program (EX: CALL LBL RB-Corner). This usually works very well and disipates some of the hassle of creating the probing cycles. This usually works with any probing cycle used within the control... datum setting, tool setting, etc. HTH Josh
  23. What's shrink fit??? Isn't that what happens after the wife washes and dries your underwear?
  24. Hey Ted, Are you wanting machine sim for multi axis or just stardard stuff? I will warn you up front... If you're looking for a multiaxis sim that is "TRUE" verification there are only a handful of companies out there doing it (Vericut, CAMplete, etc). Most verification sims use the .nci file (just like MC Verify) so you're not seeing the actual posted code run. Thus, once you post the code you may have issues in the post that will not show up in the sim. I'm not sure how MC Sim works... never got it setup... but if they read from the G-Code then it would be worth setting it up. HTH Josh
