  1. Rich you answered you own question. That is the best method I know of and yes it cost money, but any good tool that does what you want seems to cost money.
  2. setting/configration/toolpaths Memory Buffering what is the % of physical memory set to. Windows 7 Right click on my computer/properties/advanced system setting then the advanced tab. Window XP Right click on my computer/properties/advanced system tab. Then performance settings button/advanced tab/Virtual Memory then hit the change button. Then in the Virtual Memory make sure it is set to System managed size. then you should be using the what the computer needs when it needs it. On the Visual Effect tabs you can tell it best performance and it will help speed up the computer a little as well. HTH
  3. Make sure the only thing you need is the only thing selected for the toolpath. Also make sure you are not using to low of a database setting for toolpaths. I have mine set at 98% and not had a problem. Check the virtual memory of the computer and make sure it is set to automatic and not a managed size. HTH
  4. Use Dummy Clearance planes and dummy tool calls and it should go away. Yes a PIA but welcome to the world of Mill Turns. Also if you are doing any milling for turning do not use lathe stock for it will not be seen by the lathe operations and give you some big fits especially if you want to stock transfer.
  5. You can also use the misc with all or only to select only certain size with entity as well. HTH
  6. Well it seems one of the Mastercam installs sets the Nethasp to local and will give you a hasp not found even though the Haspx will see it Mastercam does not see it. So I recommend you do check that the net hasp has not been changed to Network and Nethasp. HTH

  10. You running Win7. I see this on all my computers from WinXP to Win7. Ramsaver most times will allow you to see the new levels with the names. HTH
  11. Trimming always does. What I do is make a toolpath then trim it. I then back plot the trimmed toolpath and the save that to a level. I then go back in the toolpath and make comp to off. Then I have a trimmed toolpath with the ability to lead in and out. It would be great if trimmed respected lead in/outs but is never has and probably never will. Most times I just Make up my won depths of cuts and then trim them correctly to parts then just grabs them. Problem with the back plot method is the line segments it creates verse the arcs. So by making your own chains you reduce the size of the file greatly. HTH

Drilling cycles do weird things with X, Y, and Z when you start changing the way they are called. That variable will then be the one you define in the define section of what I set-up for your probing to be portable to other posts down the road.   20. What I have is 2 icons for each screen. Then depending on which screen I want Mastercam to open up on it will open on that screen. I forgot why I had done that.
  21. Okay 3 basic questions here. Encase some of you are not away of this. Geometry groups are created when you merge anything into Mastercam. I may merge 30 to 70 items on some of my files. I have not used Geometry Groups since going to X. At my other jobs I do not even talk about or teach them to people. Problem some people have with Machine groups being erased or changed is somehow related to this problem. So please take the time and answers these 3 questions and I will submit the results to CNC software in the hopes that after 4 years something can finally be done about it. Thanks in advance for any comments you have and doing the poll. I will put everything together that is collected after 2 weeks and send it off in an email and a letter to CNC software.

Yeah if it such a problem they why not give us a switch to just not allow that to happen. I have not used groups in X yet. I am not even sure why a legacy method and concept is even in the software any more. With Levels and mask and other things Groups if it creates this problem should either be done away with or users given a switch to turn that ability off to keep this from happening. Think anyone will listen and take care of probably not, but here is hoping it gets addressed, because if we were keeping tabs I would say CNC owes it users several thousands of dollars with just that bug.
  23. Because it does not work the way it is suppose to and we are stuck figuring out ways to make it work. Sorry but things Mastercam does good it does good, but things it does terribly it does them well also.
  24. We had a roller type one on the bigger machines at a place I worked at years ago. It had a roll of the felt that passed under the coolant drop out. The whole roll was then thrown out after it was done. You could set a speed at which ti ran to keep waste down. If you had over night runs then you could run 1 foot an 15 minute or up to 1 foot an hour. Now no problem with chips getting into the chip bin. HTH
