  9. Did I miss a memo or something - What happened to this place it use to be that you post a ? and get a half dozen answers in 5 min flat - Now nothing for hrs.. Whats the deal man should I be going somewhere else or what...
  10. Using HST area clearance the last cut is only .125 of the material(its soft plastic). This a creating a problem with chatter tearing of the material.. I would like to make the last cut no less than .250 but no matter the value entered under the add cuts min cut it still will not do what I want. Is there a way to get this path without using 2 paths with diff depths....
  11. Spoke to soon - Using translate instead of offset did the job - Merry Xmas..
  12. I cant figure out how to select multiple lines and then offset all .250 -
  13. Probably a little late but might help in the future. Variable #3004 is a variable that overrides certain functions.. I believe if #3004=0 then it will override the feedrate % off setting in the control to on. just be sure to call it again as #3004=2 so it changes back.. Under the variables section in the HAAS manual browse till you find the #3004 there is a list of 1-6 options that this variable controls...
  14. I have made some changes to the mill.set file and have it close to perfect... something I would like to add is there a way to add the toolpath group to the tool list for each operation and have it post sequencial say OP1 w offset 6 list all tools / OP2 w offset 7 list all tools and so forth...
  15. Thats a good run right there Colin .. thanks
  16. Colin and Gary - Thanks guys i appreciate your help with the situation.. Gary - the new vf4's (2) that we have are pretty good with it but the older vf2 has the same jerky typw movement
  17. I seem to remember coming across a setting that would change the way the table reaches a point. Cant find it now .. Figures
  18. With HS toolpaths and minimum vertical retract I get gouges and cut corners . Verify and backplot show no collisions or gouges.. I am thinking this is a machine thing not a mx thing. the way the table moves to a point is not in 2 points at the same time but a 45 with the x y and if the y finishes first well then the x will gouge.. Any one know how to fix this problem other than not using the minimum retract option .....
  19. But of course John - I wouldnt have it any other way ... lol - damn got me again ...
  20. I have 6 peck drill ops with a .875 reamer. If I use tool manager and change sp or fd for reamer ops turn dirty but also switch to Bore#1 feed out instead of staying with a peck cycle - Anybody know why .....
  21. Bryan using your method sounds good but no matter the # and depth value top cut does not clear the top lip on the slot ..... Cutter is .250 slot mill and top lip is .125 thick - if i set depth of cut to .375 to clear top lip then each cut after will be .125 more than cutter thickness leaving material... maybe i have this wrong .. Waduya think..
  22. Eric that does the trick but extra ops is not really what i am lookn for -
  23. I am trying to use a keyway cutter to mill the side slot on this block - I cant seem to get the depths and cuts to match up - Top of stock should be top of slot minus thickness of keyway cutter - If I have no depth of cut this works just fine but when I add depths it throws everything off and I cannot seem to chase it down - Any one tried this before or have any ideas.. Thanks -
  24. I set up haas machines all day - the ones without probes there is only one way to go - I have a 3" post mounted to the table. Using a 123 block jog the spindle down to touch. (pick a offset that will never be used for anything else) cursor on z value for this offset and part zero set(minus the side of 123 block used) now use this offset to set all tools all the time. (i have a prog that moves table to post and loads g129 )... Once tools are set. jog to top of part and set z. Now every time u need to add a tool just make sure you are using g129(or what you choose)and touch off at post. With this method there are more options to adjusting your work. If any tool is cutting + / - you can simply change it in the value for the tool. If the part is + / - height then just change the z for the offset....
