  1. I had worked on the file on and off for 3 days with no problems until I created the new toolpath group. The part does use a solid for drilling, but I had the solid drill to create points so I can make changes as needed. All of the other toolpaths are from the wireframe. The solid is from Pro-E. The toolpath that I could not regenerate was a contour of the wireframe.
  2. Today I experienced this for the first time. I created a new toolpath group and drilled some holes. Then I tried to change a toolpath in the first toolpath group. The toolpath would not regenerate. I closed the file and reopen it. All of the toolpath in the first toolpath group was dirty. This is the first time that I have worked with more than one toolpath group and the first time that all of the toolpaths have been dirty. Could more than one toolpath group be causing the problem?
  3. We drill the vacuum hole (#80-#75 drill) by hand with a mini-die grinder. We drill from the mold side after we mark them with a template that we print from MC.
  4. I use both the original surface and HS toolpaths. The original surface toolpaths generate much faster but I like the toolpaths of the HS toolpaths. DavidB, I hope they can improve the processing time.
  5. John, have you tried surface rough pocket on the same part to see what the generate times is?
  6. The new HS toolpaths are very slow. I did a toolpath this week that took over 40min. to generate when I selected the entire solid.
  7. Yes I had the same errors a few days back.
  8. +1 John and Hevymetl Most of our parts come from Pro-E and AutoCad. We draw our fixtures with MC and some simple parts in the shop.
  9. quote: We are doing some things for X2 that involve CAD file change recognition and we're developing a helpful tool for updating an existing toolpathed Mastercam part with the geometry changes. It's not SW-specific though. This sounds good, because We use PRO-E for design. When a part is changed I must reprogram it or reapply all of the toolpaths to the new model.
  10. You can't specify inner and outer.
  11. jeffl, Waterline toolpath is one of the new HS toolpaths.
  12. Not with surface finish contour, but you can with the new waterline tool path. It would be nice if all of the surfacing tool paths worked with inner and outer boundaries.
  13. We use Carbaloy's Aluminum Cavity Mill in our Haas VF6 30HP 10000 RPM 250 to 300 IMP at 50 to 75% step over .150 deep. The 8"+ extension could cause you some problems. I would rough as much as possible with a shorter tool then go with the long reach. When you extend out that distance chatter can be a problem. Watch out for the chips they could cause you trouble if you are cutting pockets that deep. Also watch your machine's spendle load. Iscar has some similar tools that looks good for aluminum.
  14. DC Gorn, Are you running X+? This was causing me a fit after doing a solid drill my ops manager would flake out and the toolpaths would blank out. According Rob at QC it does something to the MTB file. I was not running X+ with MR2 beta but when I loaded MR2 it migrated some of the MTB from MR1. I done a clean install without X+ and the ops manager is working better now. I really like the X+ setup sheet and hope that this problem is fixed soon.
  15. A list of certified driver & recommended hard ware would help, but can we find a set up that will work with all of the programs that we run. This is not just a Mastercam problem I have had problem with Pro-E, Autocad, and other software. For me MR1 has been stable, but for others it has been flaky the same thing is true with V9 and other softwares.
  16. Yes! toolpath filter one way can cause a F0 on arc moves. I had this on a finish parallel that drove me nuts.
  17. quote: I've noticed when it happens to me, that I was refreshing at the same time a new reply was being added. +1 I have this problem about 1 or 2 times a week with IE.
  18. Are you using an entry move? What is your step over? What type of cut method are you using? Did you try the same toolpath with a finish pass? with the finish path off it can leave stock on at least 1 of the wall. Try doing a back plot with verify on and step it through. If you need to, set the display to end points and the step increments to about .05 to see what the cutter is doing.
  19. Good point John. The horizontal toolpath does a sweet job on our aluminum molds.
  20. quote: Not sure if they are the "best thing since sliced bread +1 I have used all of the new toolpath except for scallop and I like the way they machine. The biggest problem that I have with them is they take longer to process the toolpaths.
  21. All so you can try adding check surfaces with a small amount of stock to keep it from cutting where you don't want it to.
  22. I've had good luck with the new tool paths. I have not tried negative stock. The horizontal tool path has worked good for some of our parts. I do agree that the process time is slow.
  23. LaszloK, does your screen flash white before it "erases" the entities? I tried a different part today it took about 15sec to "erase" the entities with grandient on. With grandient off it was done as soon as i click OK.
