  1. I have a question on trochiodal tool path. I want to be able to do a pocket routine and have the toolpath use trochiodal path in the corners only. Is this possible in MasterCam?
  2. I better update my mastercam. Mine does not have that option.
  3. Is that a new option with mastercam. I do not have that option at all. There is nothing about stl as an option.
  4. I have gone to config and there is not an option for that.
  5. I do nothing but Hard milling all day everyday. Hard milling is the way to go. Talk to hardmill he will steel you the right direction. You can also e-mail me and I could also help.
  6. I was wandering if it is possible to make a stl file with a wcs. From what I see you can only use an stl file with the original origin.
  7. It is just a regular pocket. I just want it to start on the right and go to the left and be done. Right now it starts at the right like I want but when it goes to the left it turns around and goes back. I can attach a sample program of what I am talking about if you want.
  8. I am doing a job right now and want to use trochoidal tool path. I am cutting a slot .375 deep and 1/2 wide off one side of a heat treated block. I have created a boundary for the pocket. Now when I set up the tool path I want it to start from the right side of the block and cut left. When I use the high speed option and trochoidal it wants to go from right to left and goes back. I only want it to go one way. Any help would be great. Thanks
  9. I don't know where the post came from. It was here when I came to the company.
  10. I have a new machine and need to adjust my post. I have been trying it myself but this problem is beyond me. I have a two pallet machine and I need an M code in my code to make sure the right program runs on the right table. I would like to be able to input a number in the misc. value's to tell the post what M code to put in. My post is setup to post a main program and subprograms all in one file. I have one more problem here. In my post I can enter a number of how many offsets I want to run. My post will only post max of six, I want it to be able to post as many as I want. I would appreciate any help.
  11. I would never go back. My programming time is cut down so much that I would be stupid to go back. I hope you can make the jump.
  12. Thank you very much. I can't believe it was that easy. I feel real smart right now. I appreciate your help very much, you saved me a lot of headaches.
  13. In verify it does not allow me to chose full radius. It only allows me to pick angle and corner. If I pick corner and give it the rad. It is still wrong.
  14. If I go to tool type tab and pick a ball em and then pick a custom tool profile the tool shows 1/4 the size in back plot and verify. If is use the undifined tool it looks good in back plot but not in verify. I am confused. I know this is a very simple thing but I am drawing a blank on what to do.
  15. I drew up a ball em and in verify it shows a cutter with an angle to point like a chamfering tool. I have been drawing up the cutter and holders just like you said and it comes in verify with a different tip on the cutter.
  16. I am trying to setup a library for my tool holders and tools. I sketched out all my holders and drew one of my cutters in with one. I want to be able to pick that custom tool file and use it to back plot and verify. When I make my tool path I use the user defined, that works great in back plot but in verify it shows the wrong form on the end of the cutter. I did chose user-defined on verify and that did not work. That makes me uncomfortable. I also tried choosing a ball end mill and pick custom file and that made the tool 1/4 the size it was before.
  17. Thank you very much. I messed around with this alot today and I am liking it.
  18. I am going to make a library of tool holders that we have in my shop. I am wondering if any one knows where I can get dimensions for a BT holder. I am just tring to save time by getting the dimensions online rather than getting them myself.
  19. 2d contour and flowline are great toolpaths for that kind of cut. 2d contour even with the ramping on will leave a transition make on the part. Flowline will give you a true spiral.
  20. welcome to the forum trevor
  21. You could also look into Rego-Fix. You get great holders from them. They guarantee .00005 max run out and it only takes about 30 seconds to change tools. The only thing with these is you need to buy the press that mounts them. You would not be disappointed with it. When you are hard machining, rigidity is the most important thing. I am impressed with this system.
  22. My maintance is not expired. I don't think that is the problem. It's only on surface rough pocket with high speed options.
