  1. Have you tried the toggle toolpath display button? It is 3 wavy lines as circled in the attachment
  2. You're not the only one: http://www.emastercam.com/board/index.php?showtopic=68314&hl=%2Bcannot+%2Bexit+%2Bmastercam http://www.emastercam.com/board/index.php?showtopic=67502&hl=%2Bcannot+%2Bexit+%2Bmastercam http://www.emastercam.com/board/index.php?showtopic=66208&hl=%2Bcannot+%2Bexit+%2Bmastercam
  3. I agree, Its good to always be pushing your boundaries and capabilities. I guess its important to know how to do things the long way, so that you can appreciate the new improved methods more i.e traditional toolpaths compared to the new dynamic toolpaths.
  4. Wish I got this feeling from drawing a threadmill profile lol All the Feature Based Machining stuff is meant to be simple enough for an 8 year old to use isn't it
  5. Hi Kel, The way I define my threadmills is by drawing the tool geometry and using that as the tool definition.Make sure to draw it central on the axis, and it does not require a closed in top. HTH Brendan
  6. When I was learning i was trying to move geometry between points and couldnt work out why it was only moving in X and Y, and not Z. ... took a little bit before i realised about the 2D/3D toggle.
  7. That would be trim surfaces to planes not trim curves to planes. NOTW Programmer, I am using X5 and dont have the trim option inside the create curves menu...any ideas where that option is for X5? TIA
  8. You could try resetting the status bar using the Mastercam control panel utility. Go into windows control panel and there should be an icon for Mastercam. Click it and it will bring up a control utility, Select your version of mastercam and right down the bottom there is a button for reset, so click that and then there is a status bar reset option. HTH Brendan
  9. +1 on this, Would be a very handy tool def
  10. Hi Roland, Mill or lathe? In Mill, you can change the thread pitch in the main tool definition tab, but you are ALSO required to change the feedrate in the parameters page in order for mastercam to pick up the updated feedrate. If both of these are changed then your new feedrate should be brought in. I believe in lathe that if you change it in the thread pitch section of tool definition it should update in your feedrate parameters automatically. HTH Brendan
  11. Hi Camelot and welcome to the forum! I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable making that assumption. Could end up badly for you if in fact it turned out to be a fine thread. I'd be contacting your customer for confirmation.
  12. To my knowledge there is no problem reading/writing files to a network drive. We have all of our .mcx files on a network drive, and all of our nc files on the network drive. I think Mastercam CAN run into problems when important files for mastercam functions are accessed by a network, and for this reason all of our POSTS and config files etc are stored locally. Our machine defs and control defs are all network located though. Perhaps your programmer has run into problems before with networks. I have encountered problems at my previous workplace where you could not POST any files across a network else it could randomly remove lines and include errors in the coding. This was using unigraphics, and UG said it was not a POST issue, it was an issue with network interference, and the IT guys said the network was fine, it was a software problem. All i know is there was an issue and posting it locally and then transferring it seemed to work. All Im saying is there could be more to the story than first appearance
  13. A work around could be to verify a toolpath above the job so you dont actually cut anything, using a solid as stock (select the solid you want to compare to). Then save that verify data as stl. HTH Brendan
  14. Hi Marty, I am not familiar with The Home Learning Edition, so just to be clear have you tried "save as..." and selected .STL in the "save as type" option?
  15. I'm Currently Running X5 MU1, so im not certain if these things are added on X6, but the main things I want to see are the tree style format for older surfacing toolpaths, and better integration of holders into mastercam. I have got holders working quite well at the moment, but it is a bit of stuffing around. It would also be handy to have speed and feed changes available for finishing Depth and Finishing Wall Passes in 2D contour. Also, I really love the Holderlib.dll chook, but it would be great if this holder management was in the main Mastercam interface somewhere? Like built into a toolbar or something. Is there any way I can create a shortcut to a specific chook like that? Brendan
  16. Yes it does by default, can edit how far you want to project in Z, or to plane, or to surface, and you can assign it a colour and level number too. Very effective.
  17. Thanks Jon thats awesome! I had no ideda about that feature!
  18. I Always use Xform Project. You can window select from a side view and then delete duplicates...can be a bit quicker
  19. welcome to the forum......nice first post?????
