  1. I did ALL that before I posted. I finally saved the file as a version X file (lost my bad toolpath data) and opened the file in MR2 and had no problem with it. I'm just about to save it and open it in X2 to see what happens. Good thing I'm not expected to actually generate code for the shop floor. (tongue in cheek).
  2. Ok. I'm creating my first program with X2 and I'm trying to toolpath a simple contour. It is a rectangle with the 2 right corners having a .5 radius. The 2 left corners are sharp. I select the contour and define the tool. When I backplot the tool or run it in verify it makes the 2 right corners sharp. I'm leaving .02 stock for finish and I'm taking a couple of steps down in Z. Any ideas.
  3. I just spent the last 4 hours downloading X2 and with 93% done the downloader stopped and said "unable to find host file" and aborted the download. Now I have a 372mb file calles *mcblahblah*.exe.part and when I try to continue the download it starts all over. Guess I'll just wait for the CD.
  4. I don't think you'll get the same service from the neurologist as you would Terry and del's girlfriend. But I've never been to an neurologist before. Keep us informed I may have neurological problems myself.
  5. The excesive chatter is caused by the multi flute c-sink. That actually looks like a Severence C-sink which is made for hand chamfering holes. Either find a c-sink with less flutes or drop the rpm's way down.
  6. What direction are you clamping the extrusions on? You're clamping with the clamps perpendicular to the ribs right?
  7. I'm with Winnie. I ran from IE a couple of years ago. Firefox all the way. The only problem is when you run across a website that is still technologically impaired (like Microsoft) and their website doesn't support anything but IE.
  8. In that material I'd climb. Keep the chip load down so the cutter won't grab. No problem. For the most part the only thing I conventional cut is when roughing thin extrusion.
  9. There is one other thing about reaming titanium that hasn't been mentioned here yet. Titanium tends to shrink around cutters. They make special titanium reamers that have a steeper relief angle behind the cutting edge. This will come into play especially with the depth of holes you're talking about.
  10. Anyone here have a drawing of that cool little undercut tool that matches the profile of the undercut in the pocket of the series 5 vise jaw?
  11. I've tried to create a solid model of threads by creating a helix and doing a sweep cut. Unfortunately it doesn't revolve the chain as it is sweeping it around the helix. One thing I have done to get a model with true threads in it for verification purposes is to define a threadmill and cut threads in verify and saving the STL file of that. I used that STL file on the next operation to make sure all the depths were where I wanted them (and just between us it looked kinda cool too).
  12. I've set up my posts so 1 outputs G54, 2-G55 etc. 7 outputs G54.1P1. For me it makes more sense to count how many positions I'm using and put that number in the tool. I even have 1 machine that the guys on the floor (for whatever twisted reason) want it to be G54.1P1 G54.1P2 etc and all I do is put 1, 2, or 3 in there and it outputs the correct work coordinate system. This way I could move a part from 1 machine to another and have it output the right WCS numbers without having to change them in the program. But all that didn't answer the original question. I hope it makes me sound smarter though.
  13. In V9 I could go CREATE, DRAFTING, and click on a dimension that I had created and drag it to the place I wanted. I can't fine in X where I can do that. Can someone tell me how to move (or drag) an already created dimension to where I want it? Thanks, Mike
  14. I've taken points from a CMM and imported them as an ASCI file into V9. I haven't done that with MCX yet but it worked great in V9.
  15. I just ran some parts that had a thread tha I wanted to see in verification so I actually ran a thread mill so they would show up in verify. Obviously this wouldn't work for a "crap ton" of holes but to see the thread feature on a part in verify it worked well for me.
  16. Thanks John. I uploaded the file to the FTP. It's called MC0117898-001.Z2G It looks like my chamfer mill representation is incorrect also. I must have something checked wrong.
  17. Maybe someone can help me. I seem to be getting a different result in verify than what I'm being shown in my backplot. The problem seems to be just one tool, a 4" slot mill. I may have something set incorrectly somewhere but I can't find where. If someone could take a look at my file I'll send it. Thanks, Mike K. MCX MR2
  18. I disagree with the statement "It sounds like you are having more trouble than most others". Many others share your frustration. Hang in ther DC.
  19. Hey John, I'd be interested in looking at that .csv file too. I'm also curious if anyone knows how to stop the level manager from sorting the levels. When I type in a new level it sorts the whole column of numbers and puts the level I'm naming at the top. I use the level manager extensively and when I open it up I want to see the levels listed from lowest to the highest in the manager. I NEVER have a need to see the levels in any order other than lowest to highest. Does anyone know if this is a function that can be set and left alone?
  20. I have had the same problem. I copied some geometry from one level to another and had geometry from a level that wasn't even visible turn up on the level I was copying the geometry to. When I went to delete it the warning "you are about to delete geometry with a geometry or toolpath association" or something to that effect. I went to the level I had drawn that entity on and it wasn't there anymore. What about analizing an entity with the plane set to top the gview set to iso and 2d selected on the lower bar and as soon as you select the entity to analize the whole gview and plane change to a different gview and plane? That's a fun one!
  21. I thought I read somewhere on this forum how to renew the MCU light registration after the 30 day trial but I've done a search and can't seem to find any information now. Does anyone know what I need for this?
  22. I'm having some problems printing on a network printer also. I printed one copy succesfully then I had to rotate my part 180°. After I rotated it I tried to print it and the first copy came out blank. I have to print it to an 11"x17" sheet so I have to change the sheet size every time. As soon as I hit the print preview button Mastercam crashes. Any ideas anyone?
