Are you in the white bear lake plant? I set all that stuff up in version 9. How is business going with you guys? PM me with some specifics if you want.
still running 9.1sp2 here at work I've used 10 a bunch outside of work and I like it just can't get them to switch and now is not the time to be asking for upgrades they are pinching everywhere.
Thanks guys
And I think Ron is on to something it is amazing how one part will do it and the next won't.
We are getting our rasp bits from onsrud also.
I try to orient the fixtures to were I can cut through the gelcoat first but you can't always do that on 3dimentional parts where the controlled surface is the gelcoat.
We have been machining fiberglass parts for a long time. We are having problems with the gelcoat chipping off of the fiberglass on our RTM parts anybody got any secrets they want to share. We are using rasp carbide bits with high rpm now.
Trupan mdf
cut the pattern then we seal it, hand sand then coat with a heavier sealer and we can get about a dozen pulls if we are lucky. not so lucky with poly
Secondary operations to the produced parts is what we do, assembly operations, or I have tooling make hand drill fixtures and take the drilling out of the machine program to speed up the cycles/hr
I too am looking into a large dust control system for a 5 axis machine. We cut mdf patterns and generate a huge amount of dust and it is now affecting other finishing processes that we have to do. We have one on a fiberglass cutting machine and it works well for this I will take some pictures later.
C axis has 360 degrees travel but sometimes you can squeeze 1 or 2 more. If that post is the one I'm thinking of it is locked up tight. Curve 5 paths rock on thermoformed parts.
If that is the post that I was using at TPI I would say the programmer isn't starting the toolpaths in the right place to begin with like what Ron is saying. That post is really dialed in and works great if you know what you are doing.
just my $.02

I see emastercam up in there also bogusmill I like that set up. I have a wide 20 and an old 21" I like the set up just wish I had two of the wide 20's.
I would be interested in this also what I do now is write a dummy finish pass (with tight tolerances) for the whole mold and what the finish pass does not pick up I tilt the head for that area. We also use pro-e with the draft analysis to identify backdrafts or undercuts.
