Thanks Storky, I'll check back there in a bit. Thanks for the reply Iskander, but yeah its MR1 I'm after today..

    X2 MR1

I just got the February newsletter and it states that MR1 is or was released in March (which isn't over yet, I know). I don't see it on the Mastercam site, and no one has mentioned it here, anyone know something I don't know (which isn't much, I know)?
  3. Thats ok Isky, I was a little quick to assume you were yelling, didn't mean to cause you any grief this morning. I try to consider there are many ways to skin the cat, and my way isn't necessarily the best way, just works best for me... Have a nice day
  4. I wasn't digging Iskander, I made a comment because you jumped into that other thread and poopooed using hide, and I tried to argue with you a bit at the time but you werent hearing it. I happened to remember it today when you said you were starting to use it now, and made a little comment. You jumped back in yelling at me like I was crazy, so I had to dig, see??
  5. Don't yell at me!! I could dig the thread up, but im not going to bother, chill out... On second thought, here is the thread, jeeze, you can/t take a little ribbing, can you, always right and never wrong... OUT Old hide thread
  6. So you can teach an old dog new tricks, huh? I remember a nice argument not too long ago where you wouldn't listen to the reasons where hide was useful. Glad to see you understand now...
  7. That may be ok for today, but what are you going to be doing in 5 years when toolpaths are done totaly different, and your still using an old worn out cam system?
  8. Well, I find drawing in vX much faster than v9, and I too used it since v3, so I guess everyone is different.
  9. I mentioned it mostly for the people that are still missing the old hot key style, personally I'm a mouse clicker and do very well with my tool bar setup. After one of the guys here was complaining about missing the hot keys in V9, and I pointed the alt key out to him, he has gotten VERY fast at using that approach.
  10. I didn't hear anyone mention the fact that you can hit the alt key and then use the hot keys very similar to what you could do in 9, and after a little practice its just about as fast.....
  11. Sure they are John, and not sure why you think anything I said is directed at you, these posts pop up all the time, and I usually defend the fadal/haas because that is what we use to do what we do, and I feel we do it as well as anyone else out there.
  12. With that in mind, maybe there isn't one right answer to the age old question "is a haas or fadal a decent machine for me?", so we shouldn't be so quick with the "they are disposable crap" answers...
  13. I have yet to see someone throw away a fadal/haas after 3 years because its worn out. In fact, if someone replaces one, it gets resold and now it is a new piece of equipment to the second owner... I care about equipment too, and would love to have the best money can buy, but in reality I'm going to use what is supplied and make good parts. The shop I'm at now has Haas machines, and we work them HARD 7 days a week cutting tool steel with high feed cutters, etc. I had my own shop with my Dad, and we bought mori's, and I loved them. If I started another shop today, I wouldn't think twice about buying a Haas, as I know for the price I could earn a lot of money with one. And if someone asked me what I thought of a Fadal or Haas I would tell them they are "good bang for the buck". YMMV
  14. Lol, I hate these fadal/haas horror stories. I have worked at a lot of shops in my lifetime, and ran quite a few fadal/haas machines, and made good parts on all of them. Not all shops can afford top of the line, and probably don't need them either. Lets stop giving bad information because we work at shops with makinos, most of the bad mouthers never had to purchase a machine with their own money....
  15. Yeah, thanks for the post Mark, but the problem I'm talking about is in the cad end of things, I'm not even doing toolpaths. Edit: gcode, I did set my system to max performance after we discussed this last time, and it helps a little, but still requires a restart at least every 2 hours for me, and more often if I'm drawing nonstop.
  16. Will try that Colin, and see if it helps, but as others have said, I usually restart every 2 hours or so and go on. I am designing most of my forming dies in X, so am drawing in it all day long and you get tired of waiting for dialog boxes to pop up when your clicking like a madman I have Solidworks too, but can't seem to do all the things I want and need to do when drawing forming dies around whatever part data is sent to us in everything from iges, ug, catia, etc. so I find myself designing in X for the most part. I hope they look into this issue, but so far I haven't heard any comments from CNC that they even realize this is happening. I know Windows is far from perfect, but if X is going to live there, they have to learn to get along...
  17. His I.T. guy cant help, unless he can fix the memory leaks that cause the graphics to slowly come to a crawl....
  18. Turn off the auto backup also, this caused problems for us here. Also the DEP (data execution prevention)seemed to cause a few crashes and I finally turned it off on a couple of the systems here and had better results. Somehow my mouse driver was causing some crashes, would just move the mouse across the screen and get a crash. Changed those at the same time I was messing with the DEP settings and have no more major crashing issues at this time. This was when X1 first came out and we had just got a couple of new Dells, ymmv....
  19. Just wanted to suggest that you try turning off the auto backup and see if it helps with some of the crashing. We were having problems with one guys system here and after weeding it down to what was different on his than some of the other seats here, we tried that and (knock on wood) he hasn't crashed since.
  20. Great Pete! I always end up doing a file/save some to a temp file in mcx format, then read it in and save iges to be able to only include what I want in my iges file. This will save me a step, which is always a good thing.
  21. Yes, I hate this too! I need to restart X every 2 hours or so. I think it is some kind of memory leak also, it uses up the graphics memory and doesn't release it. gcode had mentioned turning off all the eye candy (i.e. set to best performance)in XP, and this makes it faster when you first start a session, but it degrades pretty quickly too. Hope they take a look at this pretty soon and get it tuned up. This was happening in X also, so its not new to X2, thats my opinion anyway...
  22. You have to install the moldplus into the x2 folder for it to work. if you installed over the mr2 folder, uninstall and reinstall moldplus again. it and catia translator work fine here, until they actually come out with the recompiled version for x2.
  23. Thanks Brett, for the post and the info
  24. Thats why he mentioned using mr2 to do it..
