  1. quote: never thought I had a California accent, until I heard it There is no such thing, its just a mixture of all the other accents around the country..
  2. Right click to deselect your arc filter after making selections.
  3. If you have moldplus, translators, etc. its best to do a side by side so you have access to these things until updates come out, so thats what I usually do. I would assume there should be less problems with a fresh install over an upgrade anyway.
  4. lol, well, I will say you have made an impression on me John, its not all good, but its not all bad either.. Out until I have to defend the little guy again
  5. John, you were the exact guy I was thinking about when I typed that. I happen to be able to make good parts on any machine, and you don't see me jumping into every thread when someone asks a question bad mouthing Haas or any other machine, unlike you. Yes I feel the need to defend them sometimes, because people like you try to make me feel like a lesser person because my company uses Haas. My last job they had Fadals, and we made a lot of good molds on them too, and people bad mouthed them too. When me and my dad and brothers had a shop, we had Mori's, so I do prefer other machines too, but a good programmer can make good parts on any machine, and as far as problems, for the ammount of work we put through our machines, we have no issues with occasional machine problems. Edit: we have 2 6 axis Mazak lasers here, and they are nice machines, I'm sure the mills are decent too...
  6. Let me break it down for you. If you work for someone else that has the bucks to buy stuff other than a Haas, you can bad mouth them all day long. If you work for a shop that has Haas machines, you can make parts and tools on them all day long (as we do here). If you are starting your own shop and need a decent machine for the money, Haas are fine and can make you a lot of money. Most of the guys bad mouthing Haas here work for shops with deep pockets and have never had to buy one with their own money, so take their advice with a grain of salt...
  7. You need to establish a point on the geometry that you want to be origin, and then translate between that point and the origin, you can't translate origin to origin. The part should rotate to the plane you want the way you are doing it, but it won't move to a new origin unless you move a new point to the origin, if i'm understanding your problem correctly.
  8. Where did you get Machinist's Handbook in PDF format?
  9. I have had this same problem since X came out. Project to surface may or may not work at any given time, with a "projection not found". Then I exit MC and restart it, reload trhe file and it works for awhile again. I have posted about it a few times, and usually most people haven't had issues with it, so I don't expect it to be fixed any time soon...
  10. Quadro 1700 should be all you need, if you aren't doing huge assemblys in solidworks.
  11. I have designed molds and dies for many years using mastercam, so it can be done. Mostly because I started machining first for many years and then as I started doing more of the design end, I still used mc because it worked out well for the cnc guys when i had everything set up in mc already. Now I am using Solidworks for design, but I have a seat of mc design too with all the translators, art, moldplus, etc. to use if and when I need too. Mastercam surfacing is pretty good at this point, there isn't much I can't draw in it, but I will admit Solidworks is the way to go for pure design...
  12. I have had to deal with this a few times myself, and you need to delete the old file type and create a new file type using the correct mastercam.exe. Its a pain, but its the only way to make it work right.
  13. I have SW2008 SP3 and MCX2 MR2-SP1 and have no problems reading native SW part or assembly files. Edit: sorry, didn't notice you were trying to read into an older version of MC
  14. quote: Im waitin on my youngest to finish High School and me and the mrs. are movin somewhere. Dont know where yet just out of Cali. lol, me and my mrs. are just waiting for the last one to get out of school and we are moving back to cali... moved to mich. around wifes family to raise the kids, now we will go back around my family to enjoy the rest of our years. ya, i know all about the cost of living, etc. i lived there all my life. we aren't buying a house, will either rent or buy a mobil home, etc.
  15. Thad, 11.2.3.28 is the latest, X2 MR2 Randy
  16. I have complained here about this since X2 came out. If you start a new MC, and project to surface it will work, but if you use mc for a bit it may or may not work, with a "projection not found" error. Just save and restart and try it again till they fix it. I have to do this several times a day, since I like to use it a lot.
  17. SW 2008 is awesome, been running the beta but just got my new dvd too
  18. 11 for wire and 110 for surfaces on my punches, and 10 for wire and 126 for surfaces on my dies, etc. I like to keep things pretty constant thru tool designs so everyone understands as we work thru the files.
  19. Thad, I had installed mine yesterday on 3 seats, but usually use the toolbar, so didn't notice this error. Just went and tried using the chook itself and get the error too. I have run into this in the past when using an older version in a new install while waiting for the chook to be updated. It will usually run if you use it from the toolbar. I know this didn't help solve, but at least you know its not only you...
  20. Ok, I'm an idiot today. I opened a mr1 instance by mistake and thought it was fixed, opened mr2 again and op manager is back in defautl position... Will just live with it for now until it is either found to be a bug, or until my chooks get upgraded to mr2 and I clear mc off my harddrive and do a fresh install of just mr2. Thanks all
  21. Tried that too Thad, I'm kind of thinking it has to do with copying my settings over, I had a few tool bar states errors and had to delete catia and moldplus toolbars to fix them. Edit: I went and tried that again and it took that time Thad, thanks for the tip
  22. Actually my problem is I want it to start with the op manager closed unless I open it as I have always used it in previous versions.
