My op manager doesn't keep its settings. If I close it or undock it, or dock it on the right, it opens in the default position again when I open a new instance. Anyone else have this problem, or is it me? I did a side by side install and copied over my settings during the install.

John, I know you didn't "rip" them, but any time someone asks a question about them, someone has to point out how weak they are, and since I usually work for people that like to buy them, I make some damn nice stuff on them, and get a little defensive because a lot of people believe you can't do tough stuff on them, or try to influence people that don't know any better. No hard feelings, I'm just defending the little guy and sometimes I read between the lines too much...

Sigh, I get tired of these "haas and fadal are junk" replys all the time. We cut tool steel all day every day on haas mills and dont have a problem with highfeed cutters, etc. Sure they aren't as nice as a makino but they can do any work we need to do. I have a feeling if some of the people that bad mouth them had to buy them their selves, they would be using haas too, its easy to bad mouth them when you work for a company with deep pockets... If you have a small shop on a budget, get a haas and get to work, you won't be sorry.

The wrong version of a chook will give this error too, like if you upgrade mc and not your add on chooks, like mold plus, etc.

I used to use center when programming manually, because its a lot easier to figure without a computer, but those days are long gone...

Yeah, I checked all that though, and everything was set right. It seems to be just the project to surface that is causing me problems. When it happens, if i save right there and close MC and pull up the file in a fresh MC, it works fine. Just wanted to check if anyone else had seen this before I bug it to CNC. Thanks Edit, posted this the same time you did gcode. Yeah, I have had the sticky plane issue too, and this could be involved in that. That is why I didn't want to bug it, I can't reproduce it unless I don't want to...

Anyone else running into a problem with xform project since mr1 came out? I just had it happen 2 times in a row where i try to project a line on a surface and get a "no projections found" error, and I have to restart mastercam and then it works fine. Maybe its something I'm doing wrong, but I don't think so, since I've never run into this before.

The main problem is that hard drives havent got as fast as ram yet..

Lol, I was just telling a couple guys here last week about the "old days" when I used to run a ramdisk and set my temp files to there, etc to speed things up. That was back in the dos days and haven't tried it again for years. Ram wasn't as plentiful back then, should maybe give it a try again with all the ram available today..

gcode, there are some xeons with 11 minute times too... I have a dual xeon also, so i'm not biased really

I didn't want to sound like I was accusing anyone of "cheating", but obviously all things are not equal when 2 machines with almost the same specs can be so different...

How many of you guys posting these 5 minute times reran the benchmark to get these low times? The last time we went through one of these benchmark deals, it was found that if you run it a second time it was a lot faster because everything was in the cache. I can't believe that there is such a difference in these times, with the computers being so close in spec. There is no reason for the xeons to be twice as fast with a program like Mastercam that doesn't take advantage of dual processors. They do have a little more cache on the chip, but this isn't really proving anything....

gcode, my complaint is that after running mastercam for a couple hours, designing tools in my case, that the menus start slowing down. As i've said before, the colors box takes longer and longer to open as the colors scroll onto the screen, etc. You don't see any of this type of thing? It's like the memory slowly gets used up and not released.

Ever since I installed the latest moldplus for mr1, it has been crashing on me. I have used moldplus since it first came out, back in whatever version, and have never had it crash like this. Filling holes, running off partsurf, etc. and it crashes randomly blowing me out of MC, always with 2 crash report dialog boxes left on the screen. I talked to support at moldplus and sent them a file that was crashing on me, but it worked fine for them, so kind of at a dead end there if it can't be duplicated. Is anyone else using the latest version of moldplus in mr1-sp1 and having crash problems, or is it just me? I am pretty good with computers and am usually the go to guy with any problems, mastercam or windows related, hardware, etc. and have a clean install of everything that should be running perfectly.

Yes, the raster to vector function lets you convert a graphic (bmp. gif, etc) to line art. There is a little learning curve to getting the best out of a graphic, but I do think its the best way to get this done in Mastercam. I recently got the Art lite for this exact reason. The lite version gives you all the geometry tools from the full Art product, just not the "specialized" toolpaths that are fine tuned to cut the very fine mesh you end up making with some of the 3d forms you can produce.

This thread has grown into a lot of different problems, not just the interface slowing to a crawl after working in it for a few hours. I don't have mouse "lag" problems, the issue I complain about is for example the colors box taking 20 seconds to fully pop up because its filling in one line at a time after a couple hours and having to restart to get things back to normal.

I should no better, but I installed over my x2sp1 and ended uninstalling everything and reinstalling my sp1 with all my translators and moldplus, etc. and then doing a side by side of mr1 until all these things get updated. I just hate having a bunch of versions installed in stupid folder names, etc. and all my file associations point to the wrong version until i go and fix all that stuff again, etc. Sigh, maybe i'm to anal....

I am positive its a memory leak, and I have been saying so since X came out, but have not seen one reply from anyone at CNC to disprove it. I keep hoping that when the "next" patch comes out that they secretly fix it, but so far it is still there and no word from CNC that its something other than a memory leak.
